Job summary

Cambridge Mobile Telematics (CMT) is seeking an HR Generalist in Chennai to support benefits, payroll, compliance, and HR operations. You will coordinate onboarding, assist with open enrollment, and manage HRIS data while upholding confidentiality and fostering a culture aligned with CMT values.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Human Resources, Business Admin or related field.
  • 4–7 years of experience in an HR Generalist role, preferably in a high-tech industry.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to document information quickly.
  • Excellent communication skills in person, over the phone, and in writing.
  • Proven ability to build relationships and communicate across levels.
  • Able to handle multiple projects with discretion and empathy.
  • Experience with HRIS and HR reporting tools; knowledge of POSH compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a first point of contact for employee questions on benefits, payroll, and policy queries.
  • Review data to identify trends and propose process improvements.
  • Lead compliance and audits under HR leadership; monitor legislation changes and policy updates.
  • Ensure compliance with state and local employment laws and best practices.
  • Oversee benefits administration, onboarding, leaves, benefits inquiries, open enrollment, and monthly reporting.
  • Assist in design and administration of total rewards programs.
  • Maintain HRIS and employee data; support reporting and presentations.
  • Promote company values and change management in a fast-paced environment.
  • Provide administrative support to HR leadership and assist with events and career fairs.
  • Support POSH compliance activities and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and coordinate background verifications.

Job description

Responsibilities:
  • Act as one of the first points of contact for employee questions with regard to benefits, payroll, and other policy and process questions
  • Proactively review and analyze data to identify trends and recommend solutions to improve process, policy and programs
  • Under the supervision of HR Leadership, own all compliance and audits which includes; keeping track of and researching upcoming legislation changes, policy and handbook updates
  • Maintain compliance with state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; review policies and practices to continuously maintain compliance
  • Use independent judgment and discretion to lead all benefits administration, including onboarding new employees to benefit plans, tracking and communication regarding leaves of absence, responding to questions regarding benefits, assisting with benefits review and open enrollment, monthly benefits reporting and billing, coordination of benefit‑employee programs, and other benefits related tasks, as needed
  • Assist HR Leadership with the design and administration of CMT's total rewards - maintaining knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies so we continuously enhance CMT's benefits portfolio to retain the best talent
  • Maintain HRIS and employee data as needed for all areas of responsibility
  • Act as a culture champion, promoting company values to guide decision‑making and drive thoughtful and effective change management in a fast‑paced environment
  • Provide administrative assistance to HR Leadership including but not limited to assisting with reporting and presentation preparation
  • Be the friendly face of our company at career fairs, showcasing our inclusive culture and fostering positive connections with potential candidates
  • When needed, assist the HR Coordination/Generalist team with tactical onboarding/offboarding items
  • Support POSH compliance activities including conducting and coordinating POSH committee meetings, maintaining documentation and Minutes of Meeting (MoM), handling SHE-Box registrations, and supporting awareness and policy implementation initiatives
  • Assist in employee engagement initiatives, volunteering activities, wellness programs, and internal communication activities
  • Support HR operations including employee documentation, background verification coordination, and maintaining confidentiality of sensitive employee information
  • Complete any additional tasks as they arise
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience and/or certification in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field
  • 4 - 7 years of experience in an HR Generalist role, preferably in a high‑tech industry
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to assimilate and document information quickly
  • Strong communication skills including an approachable presence in‑person, over the phone,and in written communication
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships and effectively communicate across multiple levels and functions
  • Ability to jump in and handle whatever projects or matters need attention
  • Demonstrated sensitivity and ability to express empathy
  • Ability to link and communicate human impact costs both quantitatively and qualitatively
  • Ability to engage with people and concisely identify their question or concern
  • Proven ability to use MS office: Word, Powerpoint and Excel, and Google: e‑mail, docs and spreadsheet
  • High attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Strong desire to continue to grow a career in Human Resources
  • Experience working with HRIS systems and HR reporting tools
  • Knowledge of POSH compliance and employee grievance handling processes
