Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Oversee curriculum content planning and ensure it is well sequenced for pupil progress.
• Drive improvements in student learning outcomes and academic results.
• Identify gaps and implement effective improvement strategies in academics.
• Align new teachers with curriculum standards, methodologies and school expectations.
• Foster teamwork in English Department through open communication and best practices.
• Lead paper setting, assessment review and term-end examinations for quality.
• Coordinate and lead departmental efficiency and collaboration.
• Ensure curriculum is implemented consistently across the school.
• Review textbooks and material quality created by content team.
• Provide feedback on corrected assessments and support teacher-created learning material.
• Train and mentor teachers to raise instructional quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the planning of the curriculum content, ensuring it is well sequenced to promote pupil progress.
• Strong focus on improving student learning outcomes and academic results.
• Ability to identify gaps in academics and assessments and implement effective improvement strategies.
• Ensure new teachers are well-aligned with curriculum standards, teaching methodologies, and school expectations.
• Foster a strong sense of team cohesion and collaboration within the English Department by encouraging open communication, sharing of best practices, and collective problem-solving.
• Expertise in paper setting and review assessments and term end paper across all segments of the English Department to maintain quality and consistency.
• Strong coordination and leadership skills to maintain departmental efficiency and collaboration.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

• Should have worked/working as HOD English.
