Job summary

JAIPURIA GROUP OF EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS is seeking a skilled PHP/Moodle developer to design, customize, and optimize Moodle-based solutions. The role involves building plugins, blocks, themes, and REST integrations, with a strong focus on secure and scalable web apps.

You will work across backend and frontend stacks, leveraging PHP, Moodle, MySQL, and React/Next.js to deliver robust educational tech solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.
• Proven experience in development with PHP and Moodle.
• Strong MySQL/MariaDB knowledge and REST API development.
• Frontend skills with HTML/CSS/JS and React.js/Next.js preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance web applications using Raw PHP.
• Develop and customize Moodle plugins, blocks, local plugins, themes, and integrations.
• Work with Moodle APIs, events, hooks, scheduled tasks, roles, capabilities, and database APIs.
• Develop custom Moodle functionality per business requirements.
• Design and optimize MySQL databases, queries, joins, indexes, and stored procedures.
• Develop secure and scalable REST APIs and integrate third-party APIs.
• Work with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, AJAX, JSON, and Bootstrap.
• Develop responsive and user-friendly web interfaces.
• Work with React.js for frontend development; Next.js preferred.
• Debug, optimize, and troubleshoot application performance.
• Follow coding standards, security practices, version control, and documentation.
• Collaborate with team to estimate effort and deliver projects on time.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance web applications using Raw PHP.
• Develop and customize Moodle plugins, blocks, local plugins, themes, and integrations.
• Work with Moodle APIs, events, hooks, scheduled tasks, roles, capabilities, and database APIs.
• Develop custom Moodle functionality according to business requirements.
• Design and optimize MySQL databases, queries, joins, indexes, and stored procedures where required.
• Develop secure and scalable REST APIs and integrate third-party APIs.
• Work with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, AJAX, JSON, and Bootstrap.
• Develop responsive and user-friendly web interfaces.
• Work with React.js for frontend application development.
• Knowledge of Next.js for building modern, server-rendered or full-stack applications will be an advantage.
• Debug application, database, server, and integration-related issues.
• Optimize application performance and troubleshoot production issues.
• Follow coding standards, security best practices, version control, and documentation practices.
• Work with the team to understand requirements, estimate development effort, and deliver projects within timelines.

Required Technical Skills

Backend

• Strong knowledge of Core/Raw PHP.
• Good understanding of Object-Oriented PHP (OOP).
• Strong knowledge of MySQL/MariaDB.
• Experience developing REST APIs.
• Good understanding of authentication, sessions, security, and data validation.
• Knowledge of MVC architecture and software development best practices.

Moodle

• Strong hands-on experience with Moodle development and customization.
• Development of custom:
  • Local plugins
  • Activity modules
  • Blocks
  • Themes
  • Reports
  • Authentication/enrolment integrations
• Good knowledge of Moodle database APIs and Moodle coding standards.
• Understanding of Moodle roles, capabilities, events, hooks, scheduled tasks, and web services.
• Experience with Moodle upgrades, debugging, and performance optimization.

Frontend

• Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX and JSON.
• Experience with Bootstrap or similar responsive UI frameworks.
• Good knowledge of React.js.
• Next.js experience is preferred.
• Understanding of REST API integration with frontend applications.

Tools & Others

• Git/GitHub/GitLab.
• Linux/Ubuntu server environment.
• Apache/Nginx.
• Basic knowledge of Composer and package management.
• Understanding of web application security, including SQL injection, XSS, CSRF, authentication, and authorization.
