Sweco, a European engineering and environmental consultancy, seeks a Highway Design Engineer with 6-8 years of experience to lead roadway design projects. You will work on Denmark-based infrastructure initiatives, applying advanced geometric design techniques and industry standards.

You will use Bentley OpenRoads Designer and MicroStation, collaborate with municipalities and consultants, and produce drawings, BIM models, and quantity calculations while ensuring compliance with VD guidelines and

Competenze

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or Master's in Transportation Engineering.
• 6-8 years of highway/road design experience.
• Experience on Danish infrastructure projects for VD and municipalities.

• Design and develop highway and transportation infrastructure from concept to detailed design.

About the Role

About the Profile. We are seeking a skilled and motivated Highway Design Engineer with 6-8 years of professional experience in roadway and transportation infrastructure projects in Denmark. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in highway geometric design, proficiency in Bentley Openroads and MicroStation, and experience working on projects for Vejdirektoratet (VD) and Danish municipalities.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop highway, road, and transportation infrastructure projects from concept through detailed design.
• Prepare geometric road designs, alignments, corridors, cross-sections, and other models using Bentley Openroads Designer and MicroStation.
• Deliver designs in accordance with Danish road standards, municipality requirements, and VD guidelines.
• Produce technical drawings, BIM models, and quantity calculations.
• Participate in planning studies, feasibility assessments, and tender documentation.
• Collaborate with municipalities, consultants, and public stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with Danish regulations, sustainability goals, and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or master's degree in Transportation Engineering.
• 6-8 years of relevant experience in highway/road design projects.
• Proven experience working on Danish infrastructure projects for Vejdirektoratet and municipalities.

Required Skills

• Strong proficiency in: Bentley Openroads designer, MicroStation, or other roadway design software is considered an advantage.
• Strong understanding of Danish road design standards and infrastructure regulations.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent communication skills in English.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with motorway, urban road, intersection, and roundabout design.
• Bicycle infrastructure, road rehabilitation and expansion projects.
• Familiarity with ProjectWise, Auto TURN or similar design management tools.
