Job summary

Siemens in India (Kalwa plant) seeks a Manufacturing Engineering Head to lead process planning and industrial engineering activities across high- and low-volume manufacturing lines. You will define layouts, PFMEA, control plans, and drive continuous improvements with NPIs, DFMA, and automation initiatives.

Applicants should have 10–15 years in Manufacturing Engineering/Industrial Engineering, strong CAD/PLM skills, and a track record of leading diverse engineering teams to optimize cost,

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Industrial / Production Engineering or equivalent.
  • Extensive experience in Manufacturing Engineering, Process Planning, or Industrial Engineering.
  • Strong CAD/PLM skills and experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks or EPLAN.

Responsibilities

  • Develop end-to-end manufacturing process plans for diverse products.
  • Define process flows, layouts, BOM to routing translation and standard work.
  • Own PFMEA, control plans, and process documentation; drive continuous improvement (DFM/DFMA, Lean).
  • Lead time studies, line balancing, and capacity analysis across high- and low-volume lines.
  • Collaborate with R&D, Quality, and Production to ensure robust process readiness for NPIs.

Job Description
Mission/Position Headline: Implements superior Industrial Engineering (IE) policies and standards, and oversees and manages all production related engineering activities (e.g. equipment layout, workflow design, and accidental prevention measures), within. within SI EP Kalwa plant
Areas Of Responsibility
  • Process Planning
  • Develop end to end manufacturing process plans for products ranging from:
  • High volume push buttons & accessories with takt times in seconds
  • Medium volume MCCBs, Contactors, Relays
  • Low volume ACBs & custom switchgear assemblies with takt times in minutes
  • Define process flows, work sequences, layout concepts, and BOM to routing translation.
  • Own and maintain standard work, work instructions, PFMEA, control plans, and process documentation.
  • Drive manufacturability improvements during NPIs and projects through DFM/A.
  • Evaluate and introduce fixturing, tooling, jigs, and automation technologies.
  • Industrial Engineering
  • Conduct time motion studies, capacity analysis, and line balancing across highly variable product lines.
  • Deploy IE tools: MOST, MTM, value stream mapping, ergonomic assessments, SMED, 5S, Kaizen, etc.
  • Define manpower norms and productivity baselines for all manufacturing areas.
  • Set and review capacity models considering seasonal demand, product mix changes, and takt variation.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce cycle time, WIP, and NVA activities.
  • Manufacturing Layout & Technology
  • Design flexible, scalable layouts for both flowline manufacturing (high-volume) and modular workstations (low-volume).
  • Evaluate and implement:
  • Lean automation
  • Material handling solutions (AGV, tugger, kanban supermarket)
  • MES/IIoT for productivity tracking
  • Ensure that plant layout supports safety, quality, ergonomics, and future growth.
  • New Product Industrialization (NPI)
  • Collaborate with R&D, Quality, and Production to ensure serial production of new products with robust process readiness.
  • Validate pilot builds, capability studies, PPAP documentation, and production trial runs.
  • Drive cost down through design simplification, process optimization, and localization of tooling & fixtures.
  • Quality & Process Capability
  • Lead root cause analysis for process-related issues (8D, DMAIC).
  • Conduct process capability studies (Cp, Cpk, Pp, Ppk) and drive improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO/IEC quality standards and internal audit requirements.
  • Leadership & People Development
  • Lead a team of process engineers, IE engineers, and drafting/ME support engineers.
  • Build competency in advanced manufacturing tools, data analytics, and digital manufacturing.
  • Partner with production to foster a strong continuous improvement culture.
