Job description

Join a team that is redefining the accessibility of space. Azista space is a transformative force in the global aerospace sector, uniquely positioned at the intersection of indigenous innovation and industrial scalability. Operating India’s first private-sector satellite mass-production facility in Ahmedabad, we have bridged the gap between complex engineering and high-volume manufacturing.

As a vertically integrated leader, we provide end-to-end solutions from the precision design of satellite buses and advanced payloads to mission management and communication systems. We don’t just build hardware, we are democratizing the final frontier by providing global clientele with the cost-effective, high-performance technology needed to power the next generation of orbital missions. At Azista, you won't just be starting a job, you’ll be fuelling the future of space exploration.

JOB SUMMARY:

Azista Space is seeking a visionary and rigorous Head of System Reliability and Quality to lead our entire quality division across satellite design, development, assembly, integration, and testing (AIT). Operating as a vertically integrated leader in the global aerospace sector, we bridge the gap between complex engineering and high-volume manufacturing. In this critical executive role, you will own reliability, product, and mission assurance for every space programme, driving our commitment to zero-defect manufacturing from concept through launch readiness.

You will set the overarching quality strategy, build and scale a world-class QA/QC team, and act as the definitive quality authority across electrical, mechanical, and software domains. Your leadership will directly govern compliance with aerospace standards—including AS9100D, DO-178C, and DO-254, while embedding a culture of \"first-time-right\" process discipline. By spearheading Material Review Boards, Failure Review Boards, and robust supplier quality frameworks, you will safeguard our orbital missions, protect mission-critical hardware, and cement Azista Space's reputation as a trusted global provider of high-performance space technology.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Executive Quality Leadership: Lead the entire QA/QC division across hiring, organizational structure, performance management, and succession planning, setting clear product assurance objectives for all satellite programmes.

  • Final Quality Authority: Serve as the ultimate sign-off authority for design reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR), test readiness, material review boards (MRB), failure review boards (FRB), and final shipment/launch clearances.

  • QMS & Regulatory Governance: Establish, maintain, and continuously improve a QMS fully compliant with AS9100D and ISO 9001, successfully hosting customer, certification, and regulatory audits.

  • Full Lifecycle Mission Assurance: Oversee quality gates and verification matrices across the complete satellite lifecycle, including environmental testing (thermal vacuum, vibration, shock, and EMI/EMC).

  • Software & Hardware Compliance: Govern complex electronic hardware assurance to DO-254 and flight/ground software quality assurance to DO-178C alongside ECSS/NASA standards where required.

  • Workmanship & EEE Parts Control: Enforce strict adherence to IPC J-STD-001 (Space Addendum), IPC-A-610, and IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards, alongside rigorous EEE parts screening and counterfeit-part prevention.

  • Supplier Quality & Risk Management: Qualify and monitor subcontractors, flow down stringent quality requirements, and drive root cause analysis and corrective actions (CAPA, 8D, FMEA) to eliminate quality escapes.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

  • Education: Minimum B.Tech / B.E. in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Aerospace, or a related engineering discipline.

  • Experience: 12+ years of progressive QA/QC experience within aerospace systems.

  • Space Systems Expertise: Hands-on quality assurance experience on satellites, spacecraft subsystems, or launch vehicle systems (non-negotiable).

  • Lifecycle Ownership: Proven track record of owning quality through design, development, integration, and testing of space hardware.

  • Multi-Disciplinary Mastery: Demonstrated capability managing QA/QC for both electrical/electronic and mechanical systems.

  • Standards Familiarity: Practical working knowledge of software and complex hardware assurance standards (DO-178C and DO-254).

  • Leadership Track Record: Experience leading a multi-tiered QA/QC function, including managing subordinate managers and leads.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • M.Tech / M.E. or MBA in Quality or Operations Management.

  • Prior experience with ISRO, global space agencies, or leading commercial satellite manufacturers.

  • Deep knowledge of ECSS-Q product assurance standards and NASA workmanship standards.

  • Professional certifications: AS9100D Lead Auditor, ASQ CQE / CQM, Six Sigma Black Belt, or IPC Certified Trainer/Specialist.

  • Direct experience setting up a certified QMS or QA/QC function completely from scratch.

  • Exposure to clean-room operations and space-qualified EEE parts programmes.

WHY JOIN US / BENEFITS:

  • Pioneering Impact: Play a pivotal role in shaping India’s private space ecosystem, contributing directly to state-of-the-art satellite constellations and orbital missions.

  • Unmatched Scale: Work at the forefront of indigenous innovation inside India’s premier private satellite mass-production facility, bridging high-volume manufacturing with rigorous aerospace engineering.

  • Culture of Excellence: Collaborate with passionate aerospace visionaries, engineers, and technologists dedicated to democratizing access to space.

  • Professional Growth: Enjoy executive-level ownership, autonomous decision-making authority, and the opportunity to build and mentor a high-performing engineering culture from the ground up.
