Position Summary

We are seeking hands-on Head of Software Development to lead our software engineering team. This is a critical leadership role responsible for the entire software application development lifecycle, from initial concept to successful deployment. You will be the bridge between our OR and DS teams and the software engineering team, translating complex prescriptive and predictive models into robust, scalable, and user-friendly enterprise software solutions.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned technical leader with a strong background in software architecture, a passion for building high-performing teams, and the ability to manage complex technical projects effectively.

Key Responsibilities

Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of 5-10 full-stack, backend, and front-end developers.
Foster a collaborative, innovative, and inclusive team culture focused on quality and continuous improvement.
Oversee professional development, conduct performance reviews, and manage team resources effectively.

Technical Strategy & Architecture:

Analyse client requirements, understand RFPs, and lead technical discussions to clarify project scope and objectives.
Design and propose robust, scalable, and secure solution architectures for complex web and cloud-based applications.
Evaluate and select the optimal technology stacks for new projects, ensuring they align with business goals and technical requirements.
Author comprehensive technical specification documents that serve as a blueprint for the development team.

Project & Delivery Management:

Serve as the lead Technical Project Manager, overseeing projects from conception through to deployment and maintenance.
Ensure the timely and successful delivery of high-quality software solutions that meet or exceed client expectations.
Implement and refine agile development methodologies to improve team velocity and product quality.
Foster a strong, collaborative partnership with the Operations Research (OR) team to ensure the seamless integration of mathematical models and algorithms into our software products.
Act as the primary technical point of contact for internal stakeholders and, when necessary, for clients.

Required Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
8 to 15 years of professional experience in the software industry.
Proven track record of building and delivering complex, enterprise-grade web or cloud-based software solutions.
Demonstrable experience in a leadership role, with strong people management, team-building, and mentorship skills.
Solid experience with the complete software development lifecycle (SDLC), from requirements gathering to deployment and maintenance.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Technical: Strong understanding of modern software architecture patterns, microservices, and cloud-native principles. Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) is essential.
Frameworks: Must have deep know of front end (React.js), Backend, Message queuing, MongoDB, DuckDB, Python APIs, Google Maps APIs etc.
Problem-Solving: Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strategic and forward-thinking mindset.
Project Management: Proficiency in agile/scrum methodologies and project management tools.

Preferred Qualifications

Domain knowledge and experience in the airports, airlines, logistics, or supply chain industries will be highly preferred.
Experience working in an environment where software solutions are powered by complex backend engines, such as optimization solvers (like GUROBI), simulation models, or machine learning algorithms.
Basic know how of LLMs, SLMs and Claude APIs would be added advantage
