The Production Head will support the Factory Manager in managing the apparel manufacturing unit’s day-to-day operations, ensuring daily, weekly, and monthly production targets are consistently met with optimum quality, efficiency, and cost control. This role demands strong leadership, technical expertise, and a results-oriented approach in a high-volume garment manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Target Achievement & Production Planning: Drive daily, weekly, and monthly production target achievement in alignment with customer orders and business commitments.
- Target Achievement & Production Planning: Monitor line-wise productivity and take timely corrective measures to address shortfalls.
- Target Achievement & Production Planning: Support capacity planning and scheduling to ensure optimal resource utilization.
Operations & Process Excellence
- Oversee end-to-end operations across production, quality, maintenance, and material flow.
- Implement Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and other process improvement methods.
- Minimize downtime and ensure smooth workflow across all production lines.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Ensure all products meet defined quality standards (AQL, buyer specifications).
- Support regular in-line and end-line quality checks.
- Ensure compliance with statutory norms, safety protocols, and labor laws.
Cost & Resource Management
- Assist in budget control, waste reduction, and improving cost efficiency.
- Ensure optimal usage of manpower, machinery, and materials.
People Management & Team Development
- Supervise and guide production supervisors, quality leads, and support staff.
- Monitor individual and team performance against agreed KPIs.
- Foster discipline, accountability, and a performance-driven culture.
Reporting & Coordination
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production and performance reports.
- Coordinate closely with the Factory Manager, Merchandising, and Supply Chain teams to meet delivery timelines.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: B.Tech / B.E. (Textile / Garment Technology) or equivalent. Diploma in Apparel Manufacturing accepted for exceptional candidates.
- Experience: Minimum 15 years in apparel manufacturing with significant exposure to high-volume production.
- Proven experience in achieving daily, weekly, and monthly manufacturing targets.
- Sound knowledge of garment manufacturing processes, sewing line balancing, fabric types, trims, and finishing.
- Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, and ISO quality systems is an advantage.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to perform under pressure and deliver results in tight timelines.
