Job summary

Larsen & Toubro is seeking a Head of Product Engineering in Coimbatore to lead end-to-end power electronics product and system architectures. This role steers innovation, robustness, and cost competitiveness across AC-DC, DC-DC, DC-AC, Solar Inverter, EV Chargers, and BESS platforms.

You will direct multi-disciplinary teams, define engineering standards, and own lifecycle from concept to production, ensuring DFMEA, PFMEA, and functional safety integration. 18–22+ years of experience preferred.

Qualifications

• BE / BTech in Electrical or Power Electronics with strong domain knowledge.
• Magazine experience in high-power inverter, PCS, or electrolyser domains is preferred.
• Experience with global deployment and certification processes.

Responsibilities

• Define product and system architecture for Solar Inverters, BESS PCS, EV Chargers, and Electrolyser power supplies.
• Lead multi-disciplinary teams and ensure DFMEA, PFMEA, and functional safety concepts.
• Own lifecycle from concept to production and field support, with APQP/Stage-Gate governance.
• Drive cost-down, platform reuse, and transfer of technology to production.
• Interface with certification agencies and RFQ/pre-sales activities.

• Engineering Execution & Technical Governance


• Lead multi-disciplinary engineering teams of Electrical and Mechanical, System control Engineering


• Define engineering standards, design guidelines, and review mechanisms.


• Own design reviews, technical risk management, and design trade-off decisions.


• Ensure DFMEA, PFMEA, and functional safety concepts are embedded early.


• Product Development & Lifecycle Ownership

• Implement V-Model / Stage-Gate / APQP product development processes.


• Drive design for manufacturability (DFM), cost (DFC), and serviceability (DFS).


• Lead cost-down, value engineering, and platform reuse initiatives.


• Exp with TOT ( Technology of Transfer) and TOP (Transfer of Production)


• Compliance, Standards & Certification

• Partner with manufacturing for NPI, ramp-up, and yield improvement.


• Lead field failure analysis, root cause investigations, and corrective actions.


• Drive reliability engineering and accelerated life testing.


• Enable localization and second-source strategies with supply chain.


• Business, Customer & Stakeholder Engagement


• Act as technical interface in customer interactions, RFQs, and pre-sales.


• Align product strategy with market needs, cost targets, and revenue goals.


• Mentor senior technical leaders and build long-term engineering capability.


• Collaborate with Product Management, Sales, Operations, and Service teams.

Education

Experience

• Proven leadership across high-power Solar inverter, PCS, Electrolyser and Ev Charger product in MW scale Range


• Experience with global product deployment and certification


• Should have handed team of 25-50 Engineering


• Should have experience of product/System Engineering and advanced development.
