Confidential US Real Estate Software Company is a fully remote, independent contractor role seeking an experienced senior engineer to own the product's engineering. You will write code, set standards, and guide the technical work with direct reporting to the CEO.

The first year focuses on taking control of the existing platform, documenting architecture, hardening security, and establishing a reliable path to production with tests and CI/CD.

Competenze

• 8+ years of software engineering with strong hands-on full-stack experience.
• Deep experience with TypeScript, Node.js (Express) and React.
• Strong SQL and relational database skills (MySQL; Sequelize a plus).
• Production experience with AWS and CI/CD pipelines.
• Proven experience taking over, securing and improving an existing production system, including adding tests to code that has none
• Solid grounding in application security: authentication, authorisation, secrets management and multi-tenant data isolation.
• Experience leading or mentoring engineers while staying hands-on.
• Clear communicator, comfortable working directly with a founder or CEO and explaining technical trade-offs to non-technical people.
• Able to commit full time, with no other jobs or clients alongside.

Job Description

Remote India Independent contractor full‑time commitment Reports to the CEO

About the company

Our client builds cloud software for US real estate professionals Its transaction management platform helps agents transaction coordinators and teams run deals from contract to close It covers transactions tasks documents e‑signature email calendar sync and billing with a web app and a mobile app It is a live product with paying customers and it is growing

The role

You will take ownership of the engineering side of the product This is a hands‑on leadership role you will write code make architecture decisions set engineering standards and direct the technical work of the wider team reporting directly to the CEO The first year is about taking control of what exists and making it solid before building much more on top of it

What you will deliver in your first year

• Take over the platform
• Take over the codebase infrastructure and operational knowledge from the existing engineers through a handover so that nothing important lives only in one person s head
• Document important architecture
• Harden and stabilise
• Strengthen security access control testing deployment and disaster recovery
• Establish a safe repeatable path to production with automated tests and CI CD and a sensible plan for upgrading ageing dependencies
• Ship the first AI feature The goal is for users to run the product through natural language You will design a staged approach starting with a read‑only assistant for example what are my priorities today and extending to actions with appropriate safeguards

What you will do day to day

How we work

Fully remote independent contractor engagement with a full‑time commitment Regular meetings with the CEO in US Eastern time plus some out‑of‑hours syncs with consideration for the time zone difference Immediate or short‑notice availability is welcome reasonable notice periods can be accommodated

Must have:
