Job summary

Genesis Global in Bengaluru, India, is hiring a Head of DevOps to own platforms, infrastructure, and delivery pipelines from development to production for global clients. The role reports to the EVP of Engineering and requires leading across regional DevOps teams to ensure secure, reliable software delivery.

You will review architecture decisions, maintain security and compliance with regulators, and drive a self-service platform enabling engineering teams to build and ship independently.

Qualifications

• Senior leadership experience owning a DevOps or platform function across multiple teams or regions.
• Proven track record line-managing engineers with accountability for performance and growth.
• Hands-on background building and running large-scale production systems on cloud platforms.
• Experience with security/compliance (SOC 2) and cost visibility for multi-region estates.
• Strong technical judgement and ability to review architecture decisions.

Responsibilities

THE OPPORTUNITY

We're looking for a Head of DevOps to own the platforms, infrastructure and delivery pipelines that let us ship software securely and reliably for our clients — from development through to the production systems we run on their behalf.

This is a senior leadership role with a global remit, spanning our regional DevOps teams. You'll report to the Executive Vice President, Engineering, build and lead the function, set the standard every engineering team builds against, and be accountable for the reliability, security, and cost transparency of a large, multi-region cloud estate.

You'll stay technical enough to review architecture credibly and make the right calls, but this is a leadership role first: your job is multiplying a team's output, not shipping code yourself.

Some travel comes with the role — visiting the wider team in the UK from time to time — but not extended stints away from home.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

• Owning and evolving the DevOps strategy, and translating it into a roadmap the business can plan around
• Owning the shared cloud infrastructure, tooling and delivery pipelines every engineering team builds and ships on
• Building and leading a DevOps function that spans more than one region, bringing every region to the same agreed standards
• Ensuring our infrastructure meets the security and compliance bar our clients and regulators expect, and that we can evidence it (e.g. SOC 2)
• Giving the business clear, reliable visibility into infrastructure cost, attributed by client and project
• Building a self-service platform so engineering teams can provision, build and ship independently, not queue behind DevOps
• Line-managing and growing your team, including hiring as the function scales
• Incident response and post-incident review for issues that touch shared infrastructure, working closely with Support who own day-to-day on-call

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• Senior leadership experience owning a DevOps or platform function, ideally spanning more than one team or region
• A genuine track record of line-managing engineers with real accountability for their performance and development
• Strong technical judgement — able to assess whether what your team is building is the right shape, and raise it early
• Significant hands-on background building and running large-scale production systems on a major cloud platform (AWS and/or GCP) — networking, IAM, compute, managed Kubernetes, CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code at scale
• Experience running a cloud estate that has to stand up to external audit (e.g. SOC 2) and give the business real cost visibility
• Clear communication — comfortable explaining architectural trade-offs to technical and non-technical stakeholders alike
• Familiarity with containerisation and Kubernetes at a level where you can credibly review your team's architecture decisions

• Experience leading a DevOps or platform function across more than one country or region
• Background in a client-facing or regulated services environment
• Certifications such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer or AWS Certified Solutions Architect
