About Scimplify

Scimplify is a science-first manufacturing company for Advanced Materials, from specialty chemicals to the building blocks of next-generation energy, life sciences and crop sciences applications. We scale process development and manufacturing as one continuous system, backed by world-class R&D infrastructure and a global network of 500+ manufacturing partners. New materials go from molecule to commercial scale in months, not years. We have teams across 5 countries and 1,000+ innovator customers in 40+ countries, and we are backed by Accel, Bertelsmann, Omnivore, Hitachi Ventures and 3one4 Capital, with over $80M raised.

The Role

As Head of Compliance & Regulatory Affairs, you will build and lead the function that keeps Scimplify’s products, manufacturing partners and shipments compliant across every market we serve. You will set the regulatory and compliance strategy for a business growing fast across geographies and industries, build the team and systems to scale it, and act as a trusted advisor to leadership. Your goal is for compliance to be a competitive advantage that speeds up market access, not a bottleneck.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define the global compliance and regulatory vision, roadmap and operating model for Scimplify.
  • Build, hire and mentor a team across product regulatory, partner/plant compliance, trade compliance and EHS.
  • Serve as the senior compliance voice to the leadership team and, where needed, the board and investors.
  • Establish risk frameworks, policies and governance that scale with the business.
Global Product & Chemical Regulatory
  • Own compliance with REACH, TSCA, CLP/GHS, K-REACH and other regional chemical inventories and notification regimes.
  • Oversee SDS, labelling, regulatory dossiers, tonnage-band strategy and customer compliance declarations.
  • Lead regulatory strategy and market access for agrochemical, pharma/life sciences and energy-materials products.
  • Anticipate regulatory change (SVHC, PFAS, restricted-substance lists, new inventories) and assess the impact on the portfolio and pipeline.
Manufacturing Partner Compliance
  • Design and own the compliance framework for onboarding, qualifying and continuously monitoring 500+ manufacturing partners (statutory approvals, EHS, quality systems, waste management).
  • Lead the partner audit programme and ensure corrective and preventive actions are closed.
  • Ensure adherence to Indian regulations (Factories Act, PCB consents, Hazardous Waste Rules, MSIHC, PESO, CIB&RC) and equivalent standards elsewhere.
Trade, Logistics & Dual-Use Compliance
  • Own export-import compliance, customs classification, hazardous goods transport (IMDG, IATA, ADR) and dual-use/controlled-substance requirements.
  • Work with logistics and commercial leaders to clear regulatory blockers for global shipments.
Audit, ESG & Assurance
  • Lead customer, third-party and certification audits (ISO 9001/14001/45001, Responsible Care, EcoVadis and others).
  • Own ESG, sustainability and supply-chain due diligence responses for customers and investors.
  • Build compliance systems, SOPs, dashboards and training programmes for internal teams and partners.
Cross-functional Partnership
  • Embed regulatory thinking into R&D, route selection, process development and scale-up from the start.
  • Advise sales, commercial and leadership teams on regulatory feasibility for new products, customers and geographies.
  • Lead regulatory engagement with authorities, industry bodies and key customers.

Qualifications

  • B.Tech/B.E. in Chemical Engineering or M.Sc. in Chemistry or a related field; advanced degrees or regulatory certifications are a plus.
  • 15+ years in compliance, regulatory affairs or EHS within specialty chemicals, agrochemicals, fine chemicals or chemical manufacturing, with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing teams.
  • Deep expertise in REACH, TSCA, CLP/GHS and global chemical inventories, with experience supporting exports to the EU, US and APAC.
  • Strong command of Indian chemical manufacturing regulations and plant-level statutory compliance.
  • Experience managing contract or third-party manufacturing networks, including audit and qualification programmes.
  • Working knowledge of export controls, dual-use regulations and hazardous goods logistics.
  • Proven experience building compliance functions, systems and teams in a high-growth or multi-site environment.
  • Strong stakeholder management, with the credibility to influence senior leaders, customers and regulators.

Why Scimplify

  • Lead a function central to how we scale globally across energy, life sciences and crop sciences.
  • Work with a network of 500+ manufacturing partners and customers in 40+ countries.
  • Shape the compliance foundation of a well-funded, fast-growing company at the frontier of advanced materials.
