Job summary

Alike Thoughts is seeking a Senior HCI Upgrade/Migration Engineer to lead enterprise-scale modernization initiatives across production environments. The role spans planning, design, execution and support for HCI upgrades, migrations and lifecycle management.

You will work with virtualization, storage, security and governance teams to minimize business disruption while ensuring platform stability and compliance during migrations.

Qualifications

• 8 years of Infrastructure and Data Center Operations experience.
• 5 years focused on HCI platforms upgrades and migrations.
• Proven experience delivering large-scale HCI transformation projects.
• Strong understanding of virtualization compute storage and networking technologies.
• Experience working in regulated enterprise environments with strict change management controls.
• Customer-facing experience managing critical migration and upgrade programs.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end HCI upgrade migration and transformation projects across enterprise environments.
• Assess existing HCI infrastructure and develop upgrade and migration strategies.
• Plan and execute hardware refresh firmware upgrades and software lifecycle management activities.
• Perform HCI cluster expansion, consolidation and migration between data centres or cloud connected environments.
• Develop detailed migration runbooks, rollback plans, testing procedures and cutover strategies.
• Lead infrastructure discovery, dependency mapping, risk assessments, and impact analysis activities.
• Coordinate migration activities with application, network, security, server, and business teams.
• Ensure platform stability, performance and availability throughout upgrade and migration activities.
• Provide Level 3 support during migration windows and post-migration stabilization phases.
• Prepare technical documentation, architecture diagrams and implementation procedures.

The role requires extensive experience in HCI technologies infrastructure transformation migration methodologies virtualization platforms storage systems security controls and operational governance

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end HCI upgrade migration and transformation projects across enterprise environments
