Job summary

Dynotech Engineering is seeking a PCB design engineer to create controllers and power supplies for high-tech systems. You will work with Altium to design PCBs, perform circuit design, and oversee troubleshooting and improvements across electromechanical platforms.

The role involves collaboration with mechanical, operations, quality, and suppliers, with emphasis on parts selection and design optimization for reliability and cost.

Qualifications

• The candidate should understand analog and digital circuits including motor controls and switching regulators.
• Hands-on PCB design using Altium, circuit design, troubleshooting, verification and validation.
• Experience with firmware is a plus and knowledge of DO-160 test requirements is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design new PCBs with controller development and power supply designs using Altium.
• Troubleshoot existing electrical systems and implement design improvements.
• Develop microcontroller based controllers and DC switching power supplies for electromechanical systems.
• Collaborate with mechanical, operations, quality, suppliers and customers.
• Handle parts selection considering obsolescence, availability, and cost.
• Redesign/modify existing systems to resolve field issues.

Job description

Role & responsibilities

The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing new Printed Circuit Boards with experience doing controller development, HMI display, DC-to-DC conversion power supply, and 28 VDC power supply designs using tools like Altium. Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting existing electrical systems and making design improvements.

• Develop microcontroller based electrical controllers & DC switching power supplies for electromechanical systems for business jet program.
• Responsibility includes specification, architecture, circuit design, simulation, schematic, layout, prototype test, qualification/certification tests and manufacturing support.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team of mechanical engineers, operations, quality, suppliers and customers.
• Design responsibility includes parts selection taking into consideration of obsolescence, availability and cost.
• Redesign / Modify existing electrical systems to resolve the field issues.
• PCB design using Altium Designer.
• System wiring harness and cable design.
• Hardware and software testing. System Compliance Testing.

Preferred candidate profile

Required Skills:

• Understanding of analog & digital circuits (Motor controls, MOSFETs, op-amps, switching regulators, gate drivers, microcontrollers MSP’s, STM’s etc.
• Hands-on experience with PCB design using Altium software, circuit design, troubleshooting, verification, and validation.
• Proficient in software tools such as Altium or similar design tools for electrical PCB design and layout.
• Knowledge/experience in firmware programming is plus.
• Knowledge/experience of RTCA DO160 test requirements for qualification/certification.
• Proficiency with lab equipment and troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of communication protocols (RS232, RS485, Ethernet).
