Job description

Summary Professional Services at Guidewire partners with P&C insurers worldwide to implement, modernize, and optimize their core platforms, with a strong focus on cloud adoption and AI-enabled delivery. We work as one global team, combining deep product expertise, implementation excellence, and a culture of continuous improvement to help customers realize value faster. Our environment is collaborative, customer-obsessed, and innovation-driven, centered on Guidewire InsuranceSuite and the Guidewire Cloud Platform. As a Guidewire Architect focused on PolicyCenter, you will define and own the end-to-end technical architecture for complex, often greenfield implementations across on-premise, cloud, and hybrid environments. You will guide multidisciplinary teams, lead critical design decisions, and ensure solutions meet demanding performance, scalability, and security needs. This role is ideal for a hands‑on expert who enjoys solving complex business problems, shaping implementation strategy, and accelerating our customers’ path to value while contributing to Professional Services’ mission to cut implementation effort and time through AI and automation.

Job Description

What you’ll do Define and own the technical architecture, design standards, and implementation roadmap for Guidewire PolicyCenter across on-premise, cloud, and hybrid deployments, aligning with customer enterprise architectures and Guidewire best practices. Lead end-to-end PolicyCenter configuration and customization, including Gosu development, PCF/UI design, data model extensions, underwriting rules, workflows, and plugins, ensuring solutions are robust, maintainable, and aligned to business needs. Architect and oversee complex integrations between PolicyCenter and enterprise systems (billing, CRM, data warehouses, external partners, document management, and third‑party services) using APIs, web services, and messaging patterns. Provide day-to-day technical leadership for cross‑functional delivery teams, performing architecture and code reviews, mentoring senior developers and integrators, and driving engineering excellence and high test coverage (including GUnit). Collaborate closely with business analysts and customer stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable architectures and non‑functional designs covering performance, availability, security, and disaster recovery. Champion Professional Services priorities by leveraging AI and automation to reduce implementation effort and time, support cloud migration and adoption, and help industrialize repeatable, high‑quality delivery patterns across projects. Contribute to organizational assets such as accelerators, reference architectures, and technical white papers, and lead knowledge‑sharing to uplift Guidewire and partner teams globally. At Guidewire, we foster a culture of curiosity, innovation, and responsible use of AI—empowering our teams to continuously leverage emerging technologies and data‑driven insights to enhance productivity and outcomes.

What you’ll bring

Required 10–18 years of hands‑on experience with Guidewire PolicyCenter, including at least two greenfield PolicyCenter implementations. Guidewire Certified ACE for PolicyCenter Configuration, with deep knowledge of PolicyCenter UI, data model, Studio, and out‑of‑the‑box features and accelerators. Strong experience with Gosu, PCF, entities, typelists, rules, workflows, plugins, and configuration for new personal and commercial lines of business. Proven track record architecting and delivering complex integrations using RESTful APIs, web services, messaging, and related technologies (e.g., Apache Camel, Bitbucket, IntelliJ). Solid understanding of object‑oriented design principles, performance optimization, security best practices, and non‑functional requirements design for mission‑critical systems. Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences and to work in Agile/Scrum environments. Flexibility to collaborate across time zones and shifts when needed to support customers and global teams. Demonstrated ability to embrace AI and apply it to your current role as well as data‑driven insights to drive innovation, productivity, and continuous improvement. Preferred Experience with Guidewire Cloud (PolicyCenter on Guidewire Cloud Platform), including cloud‑native patterns, observability, and CI/CD practices. Background leading architecture on multiple PolicyCenter cloud or upgrade programs, especially those leveraging AI‑enabled tools or automation to reduce implementation effort. Familiarity with other Guidewire products (ClaimCenter, BillingCenter, Analytics, or Data Platform) and with modern microservices or event‑driven architectures. BSc in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.

Your Impact

We believe in clarity and setting you up for success. In your first six months, you will take architectural ownership of one or more complex PolicyCenter implementations, aligning solution designs with customer business objectives while embedding Professional Services’ priorities around AI‑enabled, faster, and more predictable delivery. You will define technical roadmaps, guide teams through critical design and integration decisions, and put in place patterns and assets that measurably reduce implementation effort and time for future projects. As your influence grows, you will help customers fully leverage Guidewire’s cloud and AI platform, directly supporting our wider mission to transform how the world’s P&C insurers do business and advancing Guidewire’s ambition to deliver secure, scalable, and innovative solutions globally.
