Job summary

Republic Media is seeking a proactive Guest Relations Coordinator to support our newsroom by coordinating guests for live debates, interviews, special shows, and breaking news coverage. The ideal candidate should have excellent communication, strong networking abilities, and a solid understanding of the television news ecosystem.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, Public Relations, Media Studies, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in Guest Relations, Editorial Coordination, Media Relations, Public Relations, or a television news environment.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and relationship management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and schedule guests for live debates, interviews, and special news programs.
  • Build and maintain relationships with politicians, government officials, spokespersons, celebrities, subject matter experts, social activists, and industry leaders.
  • Liaise with PR agencies, corporate communications teams, government departments, and media representatives to ensure timely guest availability.
  • Work closely with the Editorial, Input, Output, Production, and PCR teams to understand daily guest requirements.
  • Maintain and regularly update a comprehensive guest database with accurate contact details.
  • Arrange backup guests and manage last-minute changes to ensure uninterrupted programming.
  • Brief guests on discussion topics, show timings, technical requirements, and studio/virtual participation guidelines.
  • Ensure a smooth and professional guest experience before, during, and after the program.
  • Track guest confirmations, follow-ups, and daily coordination activities.
  • Stay updated with current affairs to identify relevant guests for ongoing news developments.

Eligibility

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced 24 7 newsroom environment.
  • Excellent coordination, multitasking, and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Skills
  • Prior experience in a television news channel or digital news organization.
  • Good network across media, politics, government, business, and public affairs.
  • Knowledge of current affairs and the West Bengal news landscape.
