Job summary

Indovance Private Limited in Pune, Maharashtra, India seeks a Group Lead for Water & Environment Engineering. The role leads the BU, drives profitability, and steers international project delivery with a focus on hydraulic modeling, BIM coordination, and quality governance.

You will mentor hydraulic engineers and BIM specialists, align cross-disciplinary teams, and advance digital delivery standards across Civil 3D, Bentley, and OpenFlows platforms.

Qualifications

• Master of Engineering/Tech in Civil or related discipline is required.
• 15+ years of experience in water, wastewater, or related infra engineering.
• Minimum 10+ years in senior delivery or technical leadership on international projects.
• Experience scaling offshore engineering teams in a consultancy or specialist delivery setting.

Responsibilities

• Own the operational performance, delivery maturity, profitability, and growth roadmap for the Water & Environmental Engineering BU.
• Manage gross margins, capacity planning, billable utilization, project loading, and productivity across multidisciplinary offshore teams.
• Lead end-to-end delivery for municipal water distribution, wastewater, sewer systems, stormwater, and related BIM/design work.
• Establish and enforce design review protocols for hydraulic calculations, pipe networks, and plant layouts.
• Serve as senior technical and delivery interface for global engineering consultancies and clients.
• Ensure deliverables comply with international and local standards including EPA/UK/ISO guidelines and client standards.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

• Business Unit Leadership: Own the operational performance, delivery maturity, profitability, and growth roadmap for the Water & Environmental Engineering BU.
• P&L and Resource Management: Manage gross margins, capacity planning, billable utilization, project loading, and productivity across multidisciplinary offshore engineering teams.
• Global Delivery Ownership: Lead end-to-end delivery for municipal water distribution, wastewater collection, sewer gravity and force main systems, stormwater management, hydraulic modeling, flood studies, pump stations, and W/WWTP BIM/design support projects.
• Technical Quality Gatekeeping: Establish and enforce design review protocols for hydraulic calculations, pipe networks, profiles, treatment plant layouts, clash coordination, model outputs, drawings, and reports.
• Client Partnership: Serve as the senior technical and delivery interface for global engineering consultancies, managing expectations, scope, change orders, SLAs, technical RFIs, and executive-level client communication.
• Standards and Compliance: Ensure deliverables comply with applicable international and local requirements including US EPA, AWWA, WEF, Ten States Standards, UK Sewers for Adoption, Eurocodes, ISO 9001, ISO 19650, and client-specific municipal utility standards.
• Digital Delivery and BIM Transformation: Standardize workflows across Civil 3D, Bentley WaterCAD, SewerGEMS, OpenFlows, EPA SWMM, InfoWater/InfoSewer, HEC-RAS, Revit MEP, AutoCAD Plant 3D, and model-based QA/QC processes.
• Team Building and Capability Development: Recruit, mentor, upskill, and retain hydraulic engineers, civil designers, BIM modelers, draftspersons, and technical leads; create a scalable bench for international project demand.
• Process Excellence: Develop SOPs, automation opportunities, checklists, design templates, QA frameworks, and production standards to improve accuracy, turnaround time, and repeatability.
• Cross-Disciplinary Coordination: Coordinate civil, process, structural, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and digital delivery teams to produce integrated, coordinated, and construction-ready outputs.

Requirements

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Qualification: M.E. / M Tech in Civil, Environmental, Chemical, Water Resources, or related engineering discipline.
• 15+ years of experience in water, wastewater, stormwater, wet utilities, hydraulic modeling, or environmental infrastructure engineering.
• Minimum 10+ years in a senior delivery or technical leadership role managing international projects for clients in North America markets.
• Demonstrated experience building or scaling offshore engineering teams, preferably within an engineering consultancy, GCC, or specialist design delivery organization.
• Strong technical breadth across water distribution networks, gravity and pressurized sewer systems, stormwater detention/retention, pump stations, treatment plants, pipe profiles, and multidisciplinary BIM coordination.
• Proficiency or strong working knowledge of Civil 3D, Bentley WaterCAD/SewerGEMS/OpenFlows, EPA SWMM, InfoWater/InfoSewer, HEC-RAS, Revit MEP, AutoCAD Plant 3D, Navisworks, and related design/digital delivery platforms.
• Proven ability to interpret and apply international standards, municipal specifications, design manuals, and client-specific engineering requirements.
