Project Overview
Our client, a leading global management consulting firm is supporting a major Indian Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) in developing a large-scale, export-oriented Green Ammonia facility. The project is live and spans every major workstream, from securing international off-take (with a strong focus on Japan) to preparing the tender for plant construction.
The firm is looking for a seasoned process/project engineer to work closely with the client team and lead the technical workstream. You will develop buyer- and lender-ready documentation, guide external technical consultants through tender preparation, and critically review designs and specifications to optimise cost. Your work will directly contribute to positioning the project with Japanese off-takers and lenders, as well as ensuring a well-scoped and competitive EPC tender.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare technical documents, pitch materials and brochures to a standard suitable for off-takers and lenders, and support the drafting of responses to RFPs, EOIs and off-taker information requests in collaboration with the commercial team.
- Support engagement with international off-takers, particularly in Japan, including preparation of materials for discussions with METI and relevant agencies under Japan's low-carbon ammonia schemes.
- Critically review FEED packages and other deliverables from licensors, EPCs and consultants, identifying gaps, risks and inconsistencies.
- Develop and refine technical Scope of Work for tender packages (EPC, Owner’s Engineer, technology licensor, balance of plant, utilities) and support technical bid evaluation.
- Coordinate closely with external consultants and vendors, provide direction, review submissions and ensure deliverables remain aligned with project requirements.
- Review plant configuration, equipment selection and specifications to identify opportunities to optimise capex and opex, including challenging over-specification using benchmarks from comparable projects.
Your Background
- 8+ years in process or project engineering across ammonia, hydrogen, fertiliser, refining or petrochemicals, with exposure to green ammonia or green hydrogen projects.
- Experience taking at least one project through FEED and into tendering or execution, with the ability to critically review FEED packages and technical deliverables.
- Hands-on experience with tendering and contracting, including developing or evaluating EPC/package tenders and understanding how scope definition impacts cost and project risk.
- Exposure to export-oriented ammonia off-take, ideally with Japanese or Korean buyers. Familiarity with Japan's low-carbon ammonia policy framework, including METI support mechanisms, would be an advantage.
- Understanding of renewable energy requirements for hydrogen production, including RE sizing, hybrid solar/wind configurations, firm-power structures and the impact of RE variability on plant design.
- Strong value-engineering orientation, with the ability to manage multiple external consultants and vendors and translate complex technical information into clear, decision-ready documentation.
Other Info
- This is a full-time, 12-month contractual engagement.
- The consultant will be based in New Delhi and work onsite with the client team, with travel to Japan and other relevant locations as needed. Travel expenses will be covered.
- Expected start date: 1–15 November 2026
