Job summary

North Star Techno Services Pvt. Ltd. invites graduates and diploma holders to join the Graduate / Diploma Engineer Trainee – City Gas Distribution (CGD) program.

Trainees will work under experienced engineers on site across India, in a 12-month development programme. Qualifications include Diploma / BE / BTech in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Electronics or Instrumentation. Freshers up to 1 year experience.

Responsibilities

• Site Surveys & Planning: assist with route surveys, site measurements and daily work planning.
• Pipeline & Connection Execution: support MDPE pipeline laying, GI installations and last-mile PNG connections.
• Testing & Commissioning: assist with inspections, testing, commissioning and handover docs under supervision.
• Operations & Maintenance: support routine inspections, preventive maintenance, fault escalation.
• Quality Assurance: assist with material checks, inspections and corrective-action tracking.
• Safety: follow site safety procedures, wear PPE and report unsafe conditions.
• Team & Client Coordination: coordinate with technicians, contractors, suppliers and client reps.
• Materials & Productivity: track material consumption, stock and progress; minimise wastage.
• Measurements & Billing Support: assist with quantity verification and documentation for contractors.
• Reporting & Documentation: prepare daily progress reports and maintain inspection records.

Experience: Freshers / candidates with up to 1 year of relevant experience

Location: Project and client sites across India, as assigned

About the Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

Trainees will work under experienced engineers and gain exposure to the following areas, based on their engineering discipline and project assignment:

• Site Surveys & Planning: Assist with route surveys, site measurements, drawing interpretation and daily work planning.
• Pipeline & Connection Execution: Support MDPE pipeline laying, GI installations and last-mile PNG connections, including associated civil works.
• Testing & Commissioning: Assist authorised teams with inspections, testing, commissioning and handover documentation under supervision.
• Operations & Maintenance: Support routine inspections, preventive maintenance, complaint tracking and timely escalation of faults or suspected leaks.
• Quality Assurance: Assist with material checks, workmanship inspections, checklists and tracking corrective actions.
• Safety: Follow site safety procedures, use required protective equipment, participate in toolbox talks and promptly report unsafe conditions.
• Team & Client Coordination: Coordinate with technicians, contractors, suppliers and client representatives to support planned work.
• Materials & Productivity: Track material consumption, stock and work progress; help minimise wastage and rework.
• Measurements & Billing Support: Assist with quantity verification, measurement records and supporting documents for contractor and client Biling.
• Reporting & Documentation: Prepare daily progress reports, update project systems and maintain inspection records and as-built documentation.

What You Will Learn

During the first year, trainees will develop practical skills in CGD engineering, site execution, safety, quality control, maintenance, project coordination and commercial documentation through supervised assignments and regular reviews.
