About CDSCO

The Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) is indeed the National Regulatory Authority (NRA) for pharmaceuticals and medical devices in India. It operates under the Directorate General of Health Services, which is part of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India.

The CDSCO is responsible for regulating the safety, efficacy, and quality of pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and cosmetics in India. Its headquarters is located at FDA Bhawan, Kotla Road, New Delhi 110002. In addition to the headquarters, the CDSCO has six zonal offices, four sub-zonal offices, thirteen port offices, and seven laboratories strategically located across the country. These offices and laboratories play a crucial role in ensuring the enforcement of regulatory standards and monitoring the market for compliance. The CDSCO’s role is vital in safeguarding public health by ensuring that healthcare products in the Indian market meet the required regulatory standards.

Job Title: Senior Scientific Officer and Scientific Officer – Deputation (Including Short-Term Contract)

Pay Scale:

  • Senior Scientific Officer: Level 11 (Rs. 67,700 – 2,08,700)
  • Scientific Officer: Level 10 (Rs. 56,100 – 1,77,500)

Position Overview:

Applications are invited from eligible candidates for deputation (including short-term contract) to fill the following Group ‘A’ Gazetted posts:

  1. Senior Scientific Officer – 1 Position
    Pay Level 11 (Rs. 67,700 – 2,08,700)
  2. Scientific Officer – 1 Position
    Pay Level 10 (Rs. 56,100 – 1,77,500)
Eligibility Criteria:

For Senior Scientific Officer:

  • Deputation Eligibility:
    Officers from the Central/State Governments, Union territories, Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), Autonomous Bodies, Universities, or recognized research institutions with:
    a) (i) Holding an analogous post on a regular basis; or
    (ii) Five years’ service at Level 10 (Rs. 56,100 – 1,77,500) or equivalent; or
    (iii) Eight years’ service at Level 8 (Rs. 47,600 – 1,51,100) or equivalent.
  • Educational Qualifications:
    Master’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacology, Bacteriology, Medicine, Microbiology, or Biotechnology from a recognized university.
  • Experience:
    Six years of experience in drug testing, standardization, or research.
  • Desirable:
    Doctorate in any of the relevant fields mentioned above.

For Scientific Officer:

  • Deputation Eligibility:
    Officers from Central/State Governments, Union Territories, PSUs, Universities, or recognized research institutions with:
    a) (i) Holding an analogous post on a regular basis; or
    (ii) Two years’ service at Level 9 (Rs. 53,100 – 1,67,800) or equivalent; or
    (iii) Four years’ service at Level 8 (Rs. 47,600 – 1,51,100) or equivalent.
  • Educational Qualifications:
    Master’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacology, Bacteriology, Medicine, Microbiology, or Biotechnology from a recognized university.
  • Experience:
    Six years of experience in drug testing, standardization, or research.
  • Desirable:
    Doctorate in any of the relevant fields mentioned above.
Age Limit:

The maximum age for appointment by deputation shall not exceed 56 years as of the closing date of application.

Important Notes:
  • Departmental Candidates:
    Eligible departmental candidates from relevant posts with prescribed qualifications and experience will be considered alongside external applicants.
  • Deputation Period:
    The deputation period, including any prior deputation in other organizations, should not exceed three years.

  2. Attested copies of APAR/ACRs for the last 5 years.
  3. Integrity Certificate.
  4. Vigilance Clearance Certificate.

  7. Cadre Clearance Certificate.
