Principal Duties and Responsibilities

As a Consultant in Data Science, you will play a key role in enabling data-driven transformation by designing, developing, and deploying analytical solutions that support business decision-making. You will work closely with business, technology, and data teams to translate complex business problems into actionable insights, predictive models, and scalable data science solutions.

• Data Analysis Insight Generation: Analyze structured and unstructured data to identify trends, patterns, and insights that support business objectives and transformation outcomes.
• Model Development: Design, build, test, and refine statistical, machine learning, Generative AI, large language model, and predictive models to solve business problems and improve decision‑making.
• Business Problem Solving: Work with stakeholders to understand business challenges, define analytical and Gen AI use cases, and translate requirements into data science approaches.
• Data Preparation Feature Engineering: Support data extraction, cleaning, transformation, and feature engineering activities to ensure high-quality inputs for analysis and modelling.
• Model Evaluation Validation: Evaluate model performance using appropriate metrics, validate outputs with stakeholders, and ensure analytical solutions are robust, explainable, and fit for purpose.
• Gen AI Solution Development: Support the design and development of Generative AI solutions, including prompt engineering, retrieval‑augmented generation approaches, LLM evaluation, and responsible AI considerations.
• Data Visualization Storytelling: Develop dashboards, visualizations, and presentations to communicate analytical findings and model outputs in a clear, business‑friendly manner.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with business teams, data engineers, technology teams, and SMEs to gather inputs, validate assumptions, and support implementation of data science and Gen AI solutions.
• Solution Enablement: Support the deployment, adoption, and ongoing improvement of analytics and AI solutions, ensuring alignment with programme objectives, governance standards, and end‑user needs.

Qualifications

• MBA from a Tier 1 institution or Masters degree in a relevant discipline such as Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Industry/ Functional Skills (Preferred)

• Ability to translate complex business problems into analytical approaches and data science or Gen AI solutions.
• Strong understanding of statistical modelling, machine learning techniques, Generative AI concepts, LLMs, prompt engineering, RAG patterns, and model evaluation methods.
• Experience in building and communicating data‑driven insights through dashboards, visualizations, and executive‑ready presentations.
• Familiarity with data governance, model explainability, responsible AI, and analytics delivery best practices.
• Understanding of public sector operating environments, citizen‑facing services, policy‑driven transformation, and government stakeholder expectations is preferred.
• Ability to work across business and technology teams to support the design, validation, and implementation of analytical and Gen AI solutions.

Experience Requirements

• 37 years of relevant experience in data science, advanced analytics, consulting, or AI/ML-driven transformation roles.
• Experience developing statistical, machine learning, Generative AI, LLM-based, or predictive models to address business problems.
• Hands‑on experience with Generative AI tools and techniques, including prompt engineering, LLM application development, retrieval‑augmented generation, model evaluation, and responsible AI practices.
• Hands‑on experience with data analysis, data preparation, feature engineering, model evaluation, and insight generation.
• Solid working knowledge of Python is required, including experience using common data science, machine learning, and Gen AI libraries or frameworks.
• Experience working with SQL and large datasets across structured and/or unstructured data sources.
• Experience working with public services and/or government clients in a global or multi‑country delivery setting.
• Exposure to cloud analytics platforms, AI/ML platforms, Gen AI Platforms or data visualization tools is an advantage.
