Job summary

nxzen global is seeking a Geospatial Developer to design, develop, and maintain scalable geospatial applications, APIs, and data pipelines. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, reliable GIS services and contribute to engineering best practices.

The role requires 4–10 years of experience, with a hybrid work model (3 days in office, 2 days remote) at our Bengaluru location. Strong Python/JS/TypeScript skills and GIS experience are essential.

About the Role

We are looking for a skilled Geospatial Developer to join nxzen global. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain scalable geospatial applications, APIs, and data pipelines that support business-critical GIS solutions. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, reliable, and high‑performing geospatial services while contributing to engineering best practices and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Application & Service Development

• Design, develop, enhance, and maintain geospatial applications, APIs, and service components.
• Deliver end‑to‑end features, including implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.
• Apply secure‑by‑design principles when developing and configuring services and integrations.
• Optimize application performance, scalability, availability, and reliability.

Data Pipelines & Automation

• Build and maintain ETL pipelines for spatial and non‑spatial data processing.
• Implement data validation, schema transformations, and robust error‑handling mechanisms.
• Automate data processing and system integration workflows using established engineering practices.
• Continuously improve data pipeline performance, scalability, and reliability.

CI/CD & Engineering Practices

• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines for automated build, testing, and deployment processes.
• Develop unit, integration, and regression tests to improve software quality and reduce defects.
• Support environment promotion and ensure consistent releases across development, testing, and production environments.

Observability, Security & Reliability

• Implement structured logging, monitoring, health checks, and performance tracking for applications and data pipelines.
• Build dashboards to monitor application health, availability, and operational metrics.
• Apply security best practices, including authentication, authorization, secure configuration, and data protection.
• Support incident investigation and root cause analysis through effective monitoring and traceability.

Documentation & Governance

• Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for applications, services, APIs, and data pipelines.
• Follow coding standards, naming conventions, version control, and repository best practices.
• Develop reusable components, templates, libraries, and documentation to improve team efficiency.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

• Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and technical design sessions.
• Identify opportunities to improve applications, automation, development processes, and engineering practices.
• Share technical knowledge and best practices to promote consistency and collaboration across the team.

Required Skills & Experience

• Hands‑on experience developing production‑grade applications, APIs, or backend services.
• Good understanding of spatial data formats, GIS platforms, and spatial databases.
• Strong programming skills in Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or similar programming languages.
• Experience building and maintaining ETL pipelines and data processing workflows.
• Experience working with RESTful APIs and application integrations.
• Understanding of authentication, authorization, secure configuration, and access control.
• Experience with logging, monitoring, debugging, and troubleshooting distributed systems.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and software engineering skills with a focus on maintainable code.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in Utilities, Energy, Infrastructure, or Asset Management domains.
• Experience developing GIS‑enabled or geospatial applications.
• Hands‑on experience with CI/CD tools and DevOps practices.
• Exposure to cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Experience creating operational dashboards and monitoring solutions.
• Familiarity with open‑source geospatial tools and Python GIS libraries.
