Job description

As a Consultant – GIS, Geospatial & Remote Sensing consultant with a background in Engineering Geology, you will join the NZGCC team in WSP India to provide geospatial technical expertise and deliver high‑performing projects.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain knowledge of appropriate technical standards, legislation, codes of practice and New Zealand standards.
  • Gather spatial data for a variety of resilience and other projects, construct and manage databases, and analyse data to provide the required outputs.
  • Use programming to generate the required spatial outputs and present data through web portals where necessary.
  • Produce spatial maps using best practice cartography.
  • Track industry trends, best practice, and standards in GIS.
  • Communicate across functionally diverse groups at all levels of managerial and technical domains within a global organization.
  • Contribute on an ongoing basis toward maintaining a safe working environment, ensuring confidentiality, and maintaining proper work ethics.
Mandatory Skills
  • Strong capability across multiple remote sensing and GIS related tasks such as InSAR analysis, ArcGIS Web App development, Survey123, StoryMaps, and Remote Sensing Analysis.
  • Proficient at digitising and capturing data with ArcGIS or QGIS and working with various ESRI and QGIS software.
  • Familiar with Python scripting.
  • Good cartographic skills in displaying information.
  • Experience working with 3‑dimensional data and producing 3D maps and models.
  • Aptitude for working across different platforms and spatial formats.
  • Proficient in data management skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including oral and written communication and the ability to present ideas to a range of audiences.
  • Computer literate; proficient in Windows 7 or later, MS Word/Excel, other Microsoft Office applications, and ArcGIS.
Desired Skills
  • Proficiency in using AutoCAD.
  • Experience across a range of projects in the transport & civil infrastructure domain.
  • Geohazards and/or climate data experience.
  • Experience with quantitative risk assessment.
  • Appetite to build knowledge in relevant New Zealand design codes, standards, legislation and practices.
  • Ability to apply best health & safety practices and behaviour to provide sound engineering design and construction solutions.
Qualifications
  • Minimum: Graduate degree holder in GIS, Geology, Civil Engineering or related discipline. Preferred: Masters in Geospatial, Remote Sensing, or Engineering Geology.
  • Minimum 4 years of post‑qualification professional experience in geospatial data management and hazard mapping.
