Overview

What will you do: We are seeking a German Translator, local to Pune, to join our global Documentation Team. In this role, you will assist in the QA of our English (source) user documentation, including online help, user guides, and application tutorials. You will also update existing German (target) documentation and translate new English content to native German. You will collaborate with the GmbH team to customize documents, making them relevant and engaging for our German audience. Training on SolidCAM software and its CAD integrations will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and continuously improve existing German technical documentation to support new SolidCAM software versions.
• Produce clear, concise, and accurate localization of new/updated content to German language.
• Collaborate with the GmbH team and subject matter experts to gather information and translate technical details into comprehensive content.
• Use Adobe products (RoboHelp, InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator) to author and manage documentation and to create images and illustrations.
• Edit and proofread technical content for accuracy and clarity.
• Manage documentation using content management and version control systems.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring high-quality deliverables.
• Deliver user-centric and customer-focused documents.

Qualifications you will bring

• Certified B2 or better German proficiency level, both writing and speaking required.
• 2 to 4 years of experience in German-English translation and localization.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with MS Office and Adobe products (Acrobat, etc.).
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent interpersonal skills for team communication and collaboration with the ability to work independently.
• Motivation, dedication, and strong problem-solving abilities.
• Eagerness to learn new technologies/applications.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Experience translating technical documentation related to a software product.
• Hands-on experience with 3D CAD design software (e.g., SOLIDWORKS, Solid Edge, Inventor, NX, etc.).
• Experience with CMS and version control systems (e.g., Git integrated with RoboHelp and Atlassian Bitbucket).
• Familiarity with Atlassian Jira for bug tracking, issue tracking, feature development, and agile project management.
• Basic understanding of software development.
• Knowledge of technical documentation and help authoring solutions.
• Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and other web technologies.
• Familiarity with knowledge base systems.
