Job summary

ExxonMobil India Bengaluru is seeking a Development & Production Geoscientist Advanced to integrate multi-disciplinary subsurface data, evaluate reservoir connectivity, and develop geologic models that inform field development and optimization plans.

You will apply regional play insights, collaborate with cross-functional teams of geoscientists, engineers and production professionals to strengthen reservoir characterization and manage uncertainty in decision-making.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Earth Science, Physical Science, Applied Mathematics or Engineering with a minimum GPA score of 7.0 & above.
• Minimum 3 years of hands‑on industrial experience in integrated reservoir modelling in support of upstream oil and gas operations.
• Strong background in one or more geoscience skills (production/development geology, geophysics, stratigraphy).
• Proficiency with English and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Integrate and interpret geological, geophysical, and engineering data to map reservoir architecture, connectivity, and heterogeneity.
• Develop geological models and refine stratigraphic and structural frameworks across fields and apply regional and play-scale insights to strengthen reservoir characterization and field assessments.
• Evaluate subsurface uncertainty and risk drivers, coordinate with cross-functional teams to align interpretations with well planning, optimize workflows, and evaluate volumetric scenarios.
• Actively engage production team to update interpretation and develop insights for field optimization and abandonment plans, update reservoir characterization and interpretation based on new data and / or reservoir performance.
• Execute and update standard and advanced workflows, standardize documentation, and improve consistency and cycle time.

What Role You Will Play In Our Team

We are seeking dynamic, creative and resourceful candidates to work for ExxonMobil’s Bengaluru, India location on challenging reservoir characterization & modelling projects in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team of geologists, geophysicists, petro physicists and reservoir engineers. Candidate will conduct applied reservoir modelling work to support field development planning, mature field opportunity generation, carbon capture & storage, regulatory requirements and strategic projects.

What You Will Do

• In consultation with ExxonMobil’s Reservoir Modelling group in Houston, define project objectives, work scopes and deliverables.
• Contribute to existing model updates, developing/maintaining workflows, volumetric and calibration to dynamic data.
• Support business units that require models to screen opportunities, run scenarios and quantify uncertainty.
• Support business units to manage country-specific regulatory requirements that have a significant modelling component.
• Work with computational scientists, engineers, and geoscientists to test, deliver and support various modelling software tools, models and algorithms.

About You

Skills and Qualifications

The Development & Production Geoscientist Advanced integrates multi-discipline subsurface data, evaluates reservoir connectivity, and develops geologic models that inform field development and optimization plans. This role applies multi-basin experience, interprets complex geological and geophysical datasets, and improves workflows for uncertainty analysis, risk assessment, and reservoir characterizations. The role collaborates across technical teams and contributes to decision-making through robust subsurface evaluations.
