Job summary

SYSTRA in India is seeking a Geo-Tech cum Materials Engineer to supervise geotechnical and materials aspects of highway projects. The role involves reviewing material sources, laboratory results, and field tests, with emphasis on quality control and compliance with contract specifications.

Ideal candidate has a Civil Engineering degree with extensive experience in soil, aggregates, asphalt, and concrete testing, plus familiarity with projects funded by international financers.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering is required.
• Minimum 10 years of professional engineering experience including 6 years supervising testing, sub-soil investigation, and evaluation of highway construction materials.

Responsibilities

• Supervise geotechnical and materials-related aspects of highway works to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
• Review material sources, mix designs, borrow areas, quarry sites, and laboratory test results submitted by the Contractor.
• Monitor field and laboratory testing of soil, aggregates, asphalt, concrete, and other construction materials.
• Inspect earthworks, embankments, subgrade, pavement layers, and slope stability to ensure quality and suitability.
• Identify geotechnical or material-related issues on site and recommend corrective measures.
• Verify that materials and workmanship meet quality control requirements for approval and payment purposes.

Currently, we are bidding for Highway projects across India. The position of Geo-Tech cum Materials Engineer is the key position in these BIDs.

Missions/Main Duties

• Supervise geotechnical and materials-related aspects of the highway works to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
• Review material sources, mix designs, borrow areas, quarry sites, and laboratory test results submitted by the Contractor.
• Monitor field and laboratory testing of soil, aggregates, asphalt, concrete, and other construction materials.
• Inspect earthworks, embankments, subgrade, pavement layers, and slope stability to ensure quality and suitability
• Identify geotechnical or material-related issues on site and recommend corrective measures
• Verify that materials and workmanship meet quality control requirements for approval and payment purposes

Profile/Skills

• He/She should have Degree in Civil Engineering
• He/She should have minimum 10 years of professional engineering experience including 6 years supervising the testing, sub-soil investigation works and evaluation of highway construction materials used in modern highway construction techniques.
• He/She should have minimum 3 years on projects of a comparable nature in developing countries with international financing.
• The candidate shall have experience in monitoring the mobilization of the testing equipment as per the specified testing requirements of the contracts.
• He/ She should have knowledge of specifications and standards for slope stabilization measures in hill roads projects relevant to India
