Job description

Responsibilities

• Perform a comprehensive range of general surgical procedures, including laparoscopic cholecystectomy, appendectomy, hernia repair (TEP/TAPP), bowel resection, exploratory laparotomy, adhesiolysis, thyroidectomy, mastectomy, hemorrhoidectomy, fistulotomy, and wound debridement.
• Conduct thorough preoperative evaluations, including patient history, physical exams, and diagnostic assessments to determine surgical eligibility and plan interventions.
• Lead surgical teams during complex procedures, ensuring strict compliance with sterile technique, safety protocols, and evidence‑based practices.
• Manage postoperative care, including recovery monitoring, complication management, and coordination with primary and specialty care providers.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation of all surgical procedures and patient interactions in electronic medical records (EMR).
• Collaborate effectively with anesthesiologists, nurses, radiologists, pathologists, and other specialists to ensure coordinated, high‑quality care.
• Participate in on‑call duties to manage acute surgical emergencies such as trauma, acute abdomen, and postoperative complications.
• Stay updated on advancements in surgical techniques, technology, and clinical guidelines through ongoing education and professional development.
• Contribute to hospital‑wide quality improvement, safety audits, and surgical outcome monitoring programs.

Requirements

• MBBS degree with postgraduate qualification in General Surgery (MS/MD) from a recognized medical institution.
• Valid registration with the Medical Council of India (or equivalent) and a valid license to practice.
• Minimum 2 years of postgraduate surgical experience with documented proficiency in required procedures.
