Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients and provide appropriate medical treatment for illnesses, emergencies and injuries.
• Respond to medical problems by considering history, diagnosis, treatment, counselling and referrals when needed.
• Order and interpret lab tests.
• Maintain confidentiality and impartiality at all times.
• Collect, record and maintain sensitive patient information such as examination results and medical history.
• Document patient evaluations, treatments, medications and transactions as per hospital policy.
• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
• Explain procedures or prescribed treatments to patients.
• Liaise with other medical professionals in the community and hospitals.
• Promote health education with other health professionals.
• Meet government targets for specified treatments, e.g., child immunization.
• Discuss new pharmaceutical products with pharmaceutical representatives.
• Keep updated with medical developments, treatments and medications.
• Teach as per timetable and supervise trainee doctors and medical students.
• Supervise junior doctors and faculty to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Evaluate effectiveness of current care methods and suggest improvements.
• Prescribe medications in line with state and government statutes.
• Assist senior leadership in identifying and resolving workplace issues.
