Position Overview

The General Manager role exists to lead business and import-export operations, overseeing P&L, accounting, processing, and documentation related to supply chain and warehousing. This position drives organizational development through technology enablement and team leadership across human resources, purchase, sales, and marketing. The role reports jointly to the CEO and the promoter, balancing leadership and individual contribution to build a sustainable, growth-oriented organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Build out a full-suite trading company and cultivate an evolving organizational culture aligned with business goals.
• Oversee daily business operations including P&L management, accounting, processing, and documentation for supply chain and warehousing activities.
• Liaise with global suppliers daily to proactively resolve supply chain bottlenecks and ensure smooth operations.
• Drive cross-selling and upselling of services across product categories with key African clients to expand sales and procurement business.
• Collaborate closely with the company’s founder and Chief Executive to manage organizational activities spanning technology, human resources, procurement, and sales.
• Build and lead management teams to establish a sustainable organization capable of long-term growth.
• Implement technology enablement and deploy software systems to enhance operational efficiency.
• Ensure financial discipline with a strong focus on ROI in all business decisions.

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Experience: 12-15 years in import-export and trading business, preferably in consumer goods, consumer appliances, food, agri-commodities, or industrial goods.
• Leadership: Proven ability to build and lead management teams, influence promoter-led organizations, and report directly to senior executives including CEO and promoter.
• Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of import-export operations, supply chain management, P&L oversight, and technology deployment in trading environments.
• Soft Skills: Outcome-driven, detail-oriented, ambitious, with perseverance, resilience, and a strong ROI focus. Ability to deliver quick wins while committing to long-term organizational growth.
