Job summary

S&P Global in India is seeking a seasoned AI/ML Engineer to help transform enterprise data, workflows, and legacy systems into AI-enabled capabilities that enhance decision making across our products.

You will design, develop, deploy, and maintain AI/ML solutions on AWS, apply end-to-end lifecycle practices, and collaborate with data scientists, software engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders to deliver measurable outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.
• 10+ years of software development experience, with 3+ years in ML/AI production-grade work.
• Proficiency in Python with API development using FastAPI or Flask.
• Experience with AWS services (Bedrock, SageMaker, Lambda, API Gateway, S3).
• Hands-on with Large Language Models, Generative AI, LangChain, LlamaIndex, or RAG architectures.
• Solid understanding of RAG, embeddings, document chunking, retrieval, ranking, and synthesis.
• Experience with vector databases (Pinecone, FAISS, OpenSearch) and prompt engineering.
• Knowledge of cloud security, OAuth2.0, IAM, secure API design, and data protection.
• CI/CD, Docker, and IaC tools (CloudFormation, AWS CDK, Terraform).
• Strong SQL and data modeling skills; solid ML algorithms and deep learning basics.
• Experience across full AI/ML lifecycle, from requirements to deployment.
• Comfort with AI-assisted engineering tools like Copilot; focus on responsible AI.

Job description

This position provides a seasoned AI/ML engineer with an opportunity to help transform enterprise data, workflows, and legacy systems into modern, AI-enabled capabilities that enhance decision-making across S&P Global’s products. As an AI/ML Engineer, you will foster a strong sense of collaboration while working closely with internal business partners, data stakeholders, software engineers, and product teams to deliver measurable business outcomes.

Technically, you will design, develop, deploy, and maintain AI/ML solutions that leverage modern cloud-native architectures on AWS. You will apply emerging and established techniques across the end-to-end AI/ML lifecycle, including data engineering, model development, evaluation, deployment, monitoring, and production support. Your experience with applied machine learning, Generative AI, Large Language Models, and integration of AI capabilities into production systems will be used extensively in this role.

At S&P Global, we use modern engineering platforms and services such as GitHub, TeamCity, AWS, Datadog, Artifactory, Confluence, Jira, and CI/CD practices to support rapid delivery. You will also use AI-assisted engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot to improve developer productivity across tasks such as building data pipelines, accelerating experimentation, generating and refining code, improving documentation, and supporting automated testing, while validating outputs and ensuring alignment with responsible AI practices. You will be working in a fast-paced environment, leveraging modern engineering practices to improve code quality, model governance, operational readiness, scalability, and delivery efficiency.

Role Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated AI/ML Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in machine learning and data science, with experience working on large-scale machine learning projects.

As an AI/ML Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing machine learning models, AI applications, and algorithms to solve complex business problems. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, software engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders, to develop innovative solutions that drive business growth.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related technical discipline.
• 10+ years of overall software development experience, including 3+ years of hands‑on experience in machine learning or AI application development, with a proven track record of delivering production-grade solutions.
• Strong programming proficiency in Python, with demonstrated experience in API development using FastAPI or Flask.
• Backend development experience in C# or Java is considered an added advantage.
• Solid experience developing AI solutions within the AWS ecosystem, including hands‑on use of services such as Amazon Bedrock, SageMaker, Lambda, API Gateway, and S3.
• Practical knowledge and implementation experience with Large Language Models and Generative AI frameworks such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, or custom RAG architectures.
• In-depth understanding of RAG systems, including embedding generation, document chunking, retrieval, ranking, and response synthesis.
• Experience with vector databases such as Pinecone, FAISS, or OpenSearch, as well as text embeddings and prompt engineering, is an added advantage.
• Strong understanding of cloud security, including OAuth 2.0‑based authentication, IAM policies, secure API design, and data protection practices.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools, including CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and Infrastructure as Code tools such as CloudFormation, AWS CDK, or Terraform.
• Proficiency in relational databases such as SQL and strong understanding of data modelling.
• Solid grasp of machine learning algorithms and techniques, including deep learning architectures.
• Skilled in data preprocessing, feature engineering, and data manipulation using modern data science tools and libraries.
• Demonstrated experience working across the full AI/ML project lifecycle, from business requirements analysis to model deployment and productization.
• Practical experience using AI-assisted engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot or similar capabilities to improve productivity, code quality, documentation, testing, and development efficiency.
• Strong understanding of responsible AI usage in software and AI/ML engineering, including validation of AI‑generated outputs, secure coding practices, data privacy, explainability, and adherence to enterprise standards.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with a structured approach to debugging, model evaluation, performance tuning, and optimization.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, with experience working in cross-functional and agile teams.
