Job summary

Tata Consultancy Services is seeking a GCP Data Architect / Data Leader to own the data architecture for retail clients across PAN India. You will guide end-to-end data platforms on Google Cloud, drive delivery quality, and mentor a 15+ member offshore data engineering team.

Lead initiatives in BigQuery optimization, data governance, and data foundations in collaboration with AI engineering teams, including Vertex AI use cases.

Qualifications

• 12–15+ years in data engineering/architecture with hands-on BigQuery expertise.
• 5+ years on GCP with strong BigQuery depth.
• Strong Python and SQL skills for batch and streaming pipelines.
• Proven track record leading large offshore data teams in client-facing roles.
• Excellent stakeholder management and executive communication.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end data architecture on GCP including BigQuery, Dataflow, Dataproc, Pub/Sub, Cloud Composer and Dataplex.
• Lead and mentor a 15+ member GCP data engineering team, establishing standards and delivery rigor.
• Drive BigQuery performance, cost optimization, data quality and governance.
• Collaborate with AI Engineering to build AI-ready data foundations with Vertex AI and Gemini-based use cases.

Role Overview The architect will lead the Data & Analytics practice in retail customer. The role carries end-to-end ownership of data architecture, delivery quality and team growth, and the candidate will serve as a trusted technical advisor to the customers data leadership. Key Responsibilities

• The architect will own the end-to-end data architecture on Google Cloud Platform BigQuery, Dataflow, Dataproc, Pub/Sub, Cloud Composer and Dataplex.
• The architect will lead and mentor a team of 15+ GCP data engineers, establishing engineering standards, code quality and delivery rigour.
• The architect will drive BigQuery performance and cost optimization, data quality and data governance.
• The architect will build AI-ready data foundations in partnership with the AI Engineering team, including Vertex AI and Gemini-based Talk to Data use cases.

Must-Have Qualifications

• The candidate will bring 12–15+ years in data engineering / architecture, including 5+ years on GCP with deep, hands-on BigQuery expertise.
• The candidate will demonstrate strong Python and SQL skills, with experience in batch and streaming data pipelines.
• The candidate will have a proven track record of leading large offshore data teams in client-facing roles.
• The candidate will possess excellent stakeholder management and executive communication skills.
