Job summary

Genpact is seeking a Senior Cloud Automation Engineer to lead hands-on automation efforts across cloud platforms, focusing on scalable self-service delivery and infrastructure standardization.

The role collaborates with the Cloud Center of Excellence (CCOE) to implement automated, reusable cloud solutions and to evolve a Backstage-based self-service platform for efficient provisioning and management of resources.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in cloud engineering, DevOps, or automation roles.
• Strong hands-on experience with cloud tooling, scripting, and automation.
• Experience building and managing self-service platforms (Backstage or similar).
• Knowledge of cloud infrastructure components (compute, storage, networking, OS, databases).
• Experience with GCP as primary cloud and multi-cloud (Azure and AWS).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.

Responsibilities

The Senior Cloud Automation Engineer is a hands-on technical role within the Cloud Strategy function, focused on executing cloud infrastructure automation and enabling scalable self-service capabilities rather than defining high-level strategy.

This role partners closely with the Cloud Center of Excellence (CCOE) to deliver backlog-driven initiatives, building automated, reusable, and standardized cloud solutions. A key responsibility is developing and evolving a self-service platform (Backstage) that enables engineering teams to provision and manage infrastructure efficiently.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or related field
• 10+ years of experience in cloud engineering, DevOps, or automation roles
• Strong hands-on experience with:
• Terraform (primary IaC tool)
• Python and/or PowerShell scripting
• Experience building and managing self-service platforms (Backstage or similar)
• Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure components:
• Compute, storage, networking, OS, databases
• Proven experience working with GCP (primary cloud platform)
• Hands-on experience with multi-cloud environments (Azure and AWS)
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
• Strong focus on automation, coding, and infrastructure standardization
• Ability to work in a delivery-focused, execution-oriented environment

Preferred Qualifications/ Skills

• Experience with Terraform and Ansible (or Puppet legacy exposure)
• Familiarity with platform engineering concepts and internal developer platforms (IDP)
• Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Experience with GitOps practices
• Exposure to security and compliance automation
