About This Role

As a Sr. Principal Analyst (Logistics IT- Fleet Management) within the CIO-Research and Advisory, Advanced Manufacturing & Transportation department, this candidate will collaborate with other team members to identify emerging technology areas and topics of research interest for Logistics and Transportation Industry clients, while advising on technical and management issues. This individual must be familiar with the technologies, processes, drivers, and challenges of Logistics IT and their customers and partners, as well as the activity cycles surrounding the deployment and implementation of technologies.

What You’ll Do

1. Advise CIOs (mainly virtually), in multiple time zones and countries, on IT strategies and technology selections, emerging technologies, technology implementation, and trends direction.
2. Advise technology solution providers on solution roadmap, go-to-market strategies (e.g., value propositions, messaging, positioning, etc.), and buyer needs.
3. Respond to client questions, create materials for and deliver to clients via teleconference, video conference, or webinar and event presentations.
4. Assist and collaborate with other parts of Gartner when required, such as for sales support, support to Gartner’s separate consulting division, and other research teams.
5. Maintain Gartner’s industry leadership by responding to press inquiries.
6. Conduct research and analysis to write and deliver high-quality, clear, actionable, advisory research documents. Coverage could include but is not limited to:

• The trends and challenges in the Logistics and Transportation Industry impacting CIOs.
• The impact of emerging technologies in transportation, such as generative AI, digital twin, IoT and cloud platforms, robotics, autonomous and electric fleets.
• Logistics application strategies for systems like fleet management (road vehicles, rail etc.), transportation telematics systems, cargo management, GIS, CRM.
• Transformational concepts such as new business models, platform initiatives, APIs.

What You Need

1. 7-10 years of experience within information technology, with previous project or program leadership role within technology or business field.
2. Bachelor’s Degree and/or advanced professional qualification(s) in related field. Proven record of academic achievement at the highest level. Master’s Degree in related discipline is an advantage.
3. Understanding of solutions and technologies in logistics IT and transportation.
4. Applicable experience of IT issues in logistics and transportation industry.
5. Experience in data collection, exploration and visualization for analytics is key.
6. Adept in analyzing and synthesizing data, identifying trends and patterns, and applying frameworks in support of research thought leadership.
7. Demonstrate executive presence and immediately establish credibility with senior stakeholders.
8. Articulate and succinct communication skills; ability to explain complex ideas effectively including written and verbal proficiency.
9. Strong team-working ethos.
10. Ability to demonstrate research value leading to successful sales.
