Job summary

Rodeo FX in Bengaluru is seeking an experienced FX Supervisor to lead artistic vision and technical excellence for high-end visual effects on feature films and episodic projects. You will guide a team of FX artists within Rodeo FX's global pipeline, ensuring consistency with CG, lighting, and compositing across multiple studios.

The role requires 8+ years in VFX, expert Houdini skills, and strong leadership to drive pipeline development, tool validation, and knowledge transfer.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in high-end visual effects for feature film and episodic productions.
• Expert-level Houdini skills, including Pyro, FLIP, RBD, Vellum and procedural workflows.
• Proven experience leading FX artists, reviewing work, providing clear creative and technical direction, and delivering to production schedules.
• Strong professional English communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with teams across multiple studios and time zones.
• Experience with USD/Solaris and modern rendering workflows such as Arnold and/or Karma.

Rodeo FX is an award-winning creative company offering services in visual effects, animation, advertising and experiential. We partner with some of the world's leading storytellers and entertainment companies, including Netflix, HBO, Disney, Marvel, Amazon Studios, Warner Bros. and Sony.

In 2026, Rodeo FX opened its newest studio in Bengaluru, expanding our global network across Canada, the United States, Europe and India. Located in International Tech Park Bengaluru, the new 40,000-square-foot studio is designed to accommodate up to 400 artists and supports both Rodeo FX and Mikros Animation.

Our Bengaluru team is fully integrated into Rodeo FX's global pipeline, collaborating with artists, supervisors and production teams across our international studios on incredible projects.

Job Description

The FX Supervisor is responsible for the artistic vision, technical rigor, and overall performance of their department on a given project. They ensure the consistency of visual effects (smoke, fire, particles, destructions, fluids, abstract effects), ensuring their seamless integration into the CG pipeline. A committed leader, they guide FX artists, support VFX supervision, collaborate with CG, comp, and production teams, and participate in strategic project planning. In parallel, in collaboration with the Head of FX Department, they actively contribute to pipeline development, method optimization, and knowledge transfer.

Key Responsibilities:

Creative Quality

• Translate the artistic vision of the project into concrete directives for FX artists.
• Participate in dailies and guide the team in executing shots with high creative value.
• Validate delivered effects based on the client's visual intentions and shot constraints.
• Collaborate with VFX and CG supervisors to ensure consistent aesthetic continuity.
• Intervene personally on the most complex shots if necessary.

Technical Quality

• Define the technical standards to be met for all delivered effects.
• Propose or validate the tools, templates, or methods to be used for the show.
• Document project best practices, support artists in case of technical blocking.
• Identify recurring problems and collaborate with the pipeline team to resolve them.
• Ensure the optimization of caches, workfiles, and setups produced by the team.

Leadership & Communication

• Supervise, motivate, and support FX artists with rigor and kindness.
• Lead FX turnovers, technical meetings, and follow-up sessions with clarity.
• Delegate shots strategically, according to the artists' level and specialty.
• Maintain a healthy, respectful, and conducive work environment for collective performance.
• Report critical issues to supervision or the department without delay.
• In close collaboration with the Head of FX Department, participate in the improvement of the FX department with experience gained through projects.

Project Management

• Evaluate workload with production, anticipate staffing needs.
• Participate in FX casting and recommend the right profiles based on the shots to be delivered.
• Assist in defining time estimates and prioritizing sequences.
• Closely monitor project progress, ensuring deliverables are met on time.
• Support production in strategic submissions or validations if required.

Workflow Strategies

• Design FX methodologies adapted to the project's style, budget, and schedule.
• Detect inefficiencies in processes and recommend adjustments.
• Participate in the development or implementation of innovative tools for the team.
• Contribute to the overall pipeline consistency between FX, CG, and comp departments.
• Share project learnings in post-mortem and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in high-end visual effects for feature film and/or episodic productions, including significant experience as an FX Lead, FX Supervisor, or equivalent.
• Expert-level Houdini skills, including Pyro, FLIP, RBD, Vellum and procedural workflows.
• Strong portfolio of photoreal FX work demonstrating artistic judgement, physical realism and technically complex simulations.
• Proven experience leading FX artists, reviewing work, providing clear creative and technical direction, and delivering to production schedules.
• Strong understanding of FX pipelines and cross-department workflows involving CG, Lighting and Compositing.
• Experience with USD/Solaris and modern rendering workflows such as Arnold and/or Karma.
• Familiarity with Nuke and production tracking tools such as Flow Production Tracking (ShotGrid) or equivalent.
• Python and/or VEX scripting knowledge is an asset.
• Strong professional English communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with teams across multiple studios and time zones.
• Experience contributing to pipeline development, tool development or workflow improvements is an asset.
• Experience participating in client reviews or presentations is an asset.
