Job summary

Mihira Visual Labs in Hyderabad, India, is seeking a skilled FX Artist who loves building dynamic simulations and visually striking effects based on creative briefings. You’ll work closely with Assets, Animation, Lighting, Lookdev, and Compositing teams to create believable and stylized FX that elevate the final image.

The role requires strong Houdini experience, physics-based simulations (Pyro, FLIP, Vellum, RBD), and a collaborative mindset to ensure seamless integration with render workflows

Qualifications

• Experience with CGI Feature Animation and VFX production.
• Strong Houdini experience for FX simulations.
• Solid understanding of physics-based simulations (Pyro, FLIP, Vellum, RBD).
• Knowledge of rendering workflows and FX integration (Arnold / Karma / Redshift).
• Good eye for timing, scale, motion, and realism.

Responsibilities

• Create high-quality FX simulations including fire, smoke, explosions, water, fluids, particles, destruction, and magic FX.
• Develop procedural FX setups using Houdini (nodes, VEX, tools).
• Optimize FX caches and setups for performance and render efficiency.
• Collaborate with Lighting, Lookdev, and Comp teams to ensure seamless integration.
• Interpret creative briefs, references, and feedback from Directors and supervisors.
• Troubleshoot technical and artistic issues across the FX pipeline.
• Maintain clean, organized scenes and follow studio pipeline standards.

• Create high-quality FX simulations including fire, smoke, explosions, water, fluids, particles, destruction, and magic FX.


• Develop procedural FX setups using Houdini (nodes, VEX, tools).


• Optimize FX caches and setups for performance and render efficiency.


• Collaborate with Lighting, Lookdev, and Comp teams to ensure seamless integration.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Strong experience with Houdini for FX simulations.


• Solid understanding of physics-based simulations (Pyro, FLIP, Vellum, RBD).


• Knowledge of rendering workflows and FX integration (Arnold / Karma / Redshift is a plus).


• Good eye for timing, scale, motion, and realism.


• Understanding of CGI Feature Animation, VFX pipelines and shot-based workflows.


• Ability to take feedback positively and iterate efficiently.

Nice to Have

• Experience with VEX, Python, or tool development.


• Exposure to Houdini Solaris USD workflows.


• Experience in film, episodic, or high-end commercial projects.


• Basic compositing knowledge (Nuke) for FX slap comps.
