Job summary

UTI Mutual Fund seeks a seasoned Co-Fund Manager/Fund Manager to drive arbitrage and special situations strategies while overseeing passive fund exposures. The role requires deep expertise in cash–futures arbitrage, mergers, buybacks, and corporate actions, with a focus on risk control and benchmark tracking.

The candidate should bring 10-15 years of relevant fund management experience, strong communication skills, and a robust academic background in finance.

Qualifications

  • Arbitrage/Special situations and passive fund management experience preferred.
  • Experience: 10-15 years in managing arbitrage/special situations or passive funds.
  • Strong knowledge of portfolio construction and tracking error minimisation.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and execute arbitrage opportunities across cash–futures, and other market mispricing, and related arbitrage strategies.
  • Build and manage special situations exposures (including mergers, demergers, open offers, buybacks, restructurings and other corporate actions)
  • Manage passive/index portfolios (ETFs and index funds) with a strong emphasis on minimising tracking error versus the benchmark through efficient management
  • Design and refine portfolio construction frameworks for arbitrage and special situations.
  • Monitor market structure, roll‑over dynamics, corporate action calendars and regulatory changes to anticipate and capture evolving arbitrage and special situation opportunities.
  • Collaborate with dealing, risk, operations and compliance to ensure robust execution, reporting and adherence to internal and regulatory guidelines.
  • Assist the sales and distribution teams in communicating fund strategy, positioning, performance drivers and risk profile to clients, including participation in investor meetings, roadshows and travel to key markets as required.
  • Prepare clear, investor‑friendly communication on strategy, performance drivers and risk profile for internal committees and external clients.

  • MBA (Finance), CA, CFA (preferred), FRM, or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Strong academic background in finance, economics, or related fields.
  • 10-15 years of experience in the managing arbitrage/special situations and/or passive fund.
  • Strong understanding of Arbitrage/Special situations and managing passive funds
  • Detail-oriented, analytical, and highly organized with strong problem-solving capability.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex concepts for various stakeholders.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and functions.
