Job summary

AkzoNobel in Pune, India is seeking a Functional Lead for Chatbot to drive the evolution of the Conversational AI platform. You will own end-to-end delivery, translate requirements into initiatives and lead a team through discovery, design, development, testing, and production support.

You will collaborate with stakeholders to shape the roadmap, prioritize features and guide complex integrations with enterprise systems using APIs.

Qualifications

• 7–8 years of software development and enterprise platforms experience.
• Technical Lead/Senior Developer with end-to-end delivery ownership.
• Strong hands-on with REST APIs, backend development and enterprise integrations.
• Solid understanding of solution architecture, authentication and security.
• Cloud experience, preferably Microsoft Azure.
• Experience leading technical delivery and mentoring teams.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end technical delivery and evolution of the Conversational AI platform.
• Translate ideas and requirements into actionable initiatives.
• Prioritize requirements with stakeholders and contribute to roadmap planning.
• Lead discovery, design, development, testing, go-live and post-production support.
• Guide the development team to meet priorities and timelines.
• Design scalable solutions for conversational AI, enterprise search, knowledge, workflow automation, approvals and self-service use cases.
• Lead integrations with enterprise systems via APIs and backend services.
• Review designs, integrations & code, establish reusable architecture patterns and standards.
• Maintain platform stability, reduce technical debt and improve performance.
• Identify opportunities to transform the platform with AI and automation capabilities.
• Coordinate with IT, Security, Architecture and apps teams to resolve dependencies.
• Track risks and blockers and drive to closure.
• Mentor developers and strengthen technical ownership.

The role will also drive the ongoing evolution and transformation of the conversational AI platform as an enterprise assistant for search, support, automation and employee productivity.

Key Activities

• Own the end-to-end technical delivery and evolution of the Conversational AI platform.
• Understand new ideas and requirements through the intake process and convert them into actionable initiatives.
• Work with stakeholders to prioritize requirements and contribute to roadmap planning.
• Lead initiatives from discovery and solution design through development, testing, go-live and post-production support.
• Lead and guide the development team to deliver against agreed priorities and timelines.
• Design scalable solutions for conversational AI, enterprise search, knowledge, workflow automation, approvals and self-service use cases.
• Lead complex integrations with enterprise systems through APIs and backend services.
• Review solution designs, integrations, APIs and code developed by the team.
• Establish reusable architecture patterns, engineering standards and development best practices.
• Own platform stability, technical debt, performance improvements and resolution of production issues.
• Identify opportunities to continuously improve and transform the platform using new AI and automation capabilities.
• Coordinate with internal IT, Security, Architecture and application teams to resolve technical dependencies.
• Track technical risks, delivery blockers and dependencies and drive them to closure.
• Mentor developers and strengthen technical ownership and capability within the team.

Experience

• Around 7-8 years ofStrong experience in software development, enterprise platforms, integrations, Conversational AI or automation solutions.
• Experience as a Technical Lead, Platform Lead or Senior Developer with end-to-end delivery ownership.
• Strong hands-on experience with REST APIs, backend development, JSON and enterprise integrations.
• Good understanding of solution architecture, authentication, OAuth 2.0, authorization and enterprise security.
• Experience with cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure.
• Experience leading technical delivery across requirements, design, development, testing and production.
• Ability to translate business requirements into technically feasible solutions and delivery plans.
• Strong troubleshooting, stakeholder management and problem-solving skills.
• Experience mentoring and technically guiding developers.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Moveworks / Agent Studio.
• Experience with enterprise Conversational AI or chatbot platforms.
• Agentic AI and workflow automation experience.
• Enterprise Search, RAG and knowledge-platform experience.
• Experience with ServiceNow, SAP, Microsoft Graph, SharePoint or similar enterprise applications.
