Job summary

Takeda Innovations India Private Limited in Bengaluru is seeking an experienced software engineering leader to design, develop, and deliver internal digital products. You will report to the Head of Portfolio Strategy and Operational Excellence and guide multiple products and teams.

You will own end-to-end delivery, shape architecture, implement secure, scalable solutions on cloud, and mentor senior engineers while aligning roadmaps with product and business goals.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering experience.
• Deep experience leading digital product engineering with end-to-end ownership across multiple products and teams.
• Strong architecture background in full-stack systems and integration patterns.

Job description

About the role: You will report to the Head of Portfolio Strategy and Operational Excellence. You will lead the design, development, and delivery of internal digital products and related technical documentation and training. This role supports Takeda's mission by helping shape secure, reliable, and scalable software solutions that improve internal and external business operations across multiple products and teams.

How you will contribute:

• Lead end-to-end digital product engineering across multiple products and teams, from architecture and design through delivery, support, and continuous improvement
• Design full-stack solutions, including application programming interfaces, microservices, frontend architecture, and integration patterns that support business needs
• Build and guide backend engineering work using Java, .NET, or Node, REST/GraphQL, messaging, and performance tuning
• Shape frontend engineering decisions using React, Angular, or Vue, with attention to component design, state management, and accessibility
• Drive cloud-native delivery across Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform, including containers, Kubernetes, and infrastructure as code
• Lead DevSecOps practices, including continuous integration and continuous delivery, automated testing, static and dynamic application security testing, and secrets management
• Apply security by design principles, including Open Web Application Security Project Top 10, authentication, authorization, and zero trust patterns
• Guide data layer design across structured and unstructured data stores, schema design, caching, and data migration planning
• Strengthen observability and reliability through logging, metrics, tracing, service level objectives, and incident response practices
• Establish engineering quality standards through coding practices, code reviews, test strategy, and software development life cycle controls
• Provide technical oversight for external vendors and partners, including architecture reviews, delivery tracking, and acceptance criteria
• Lead, coach, and support senior engineers, including hiring, performance management, and career development
• Partner with product and business teams to turn strategy into technical roadmaps, manage trade-offs, and align delivery priorities
• Support cost-aware engineering decisions, including cloud cost controls, capacity planning, and license usage where relevant

• Required: 7+ years of software engineering experience
• Deep experience leading digital product engineering with end-to-end ownership across multiple products and teams
• Strong architecture background in full-stack systems, including application programming interfaces, microservices, frontend architecture, and integration patterns
• Strong backend engineering expertise in Java, .NET, or Node, with hands-on experience in application programming interfaces, GraphQL, messaging, and performance tuning
• Strong frontend engineering expertise in React, Angular, or Vue, including component design, state management, and accessibility
• Strong experience with cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform, plus containers, Kubernetes, and infrastructure as code
• Strong DevSecOps knowledge, including continuous integration and continuous delivery, automated testing, security testing, and secrets management
• Strong understanding of secure development practices, including Open Web Application Security Project Top 10, authentication, authorization, and zero trust patterns
• Strong data engineering and database experience with SQL, NoSQL, schema design, caching, and data migrations
• Strong understanding of observability, reliability, service level objectives, logging, metrics, tracing, and incident response
• Strong leadership experience guiding engineering standards, code reviews, test strategy, and software development life cycle controls
• Comfort using AI-enabled developer tools, for example code assistance, test generation, or documentation, with appropriate security and privacy practices
• Experience managing technical vendors and partners through architecture reviews, delivery oversight, and acceptance criteria
• Experience leading and developing senior engineers through hiring, coaching, and performance management
• Experience working with product and business partners to shape technical roadmaps and manage delivery trade-offs
• Experience applying cost optimization principles to cloud usage, capacity planning, and licensing where relevant
