Avert Intelligence is seeking a founding Senior Engineer to lead the next phase of building our real-time scam intelligence platform for banks and fintechs. You will own technical direction, build the team, and drive how our platform integrates with financial institutions worldwide.

Lead end-to-end bank integrations, architect low-latency APIs, and scale AI-powered scam intelligence. Drive partnerships, own market expansion, and shape product strategy with the CEO and executive team.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience building AI systems in production (LLM pipelines, prompts, retrieval, monitoring).
• Strong backend and API design with security and reliability focus.
• Experience with security/compliance reviews (SOC 2, audits).
• B2B banking/fintech exposure and bank integrations.

Build the technology banks use to stop scams before money moves

Scams cost consumers and financial institutions billions every year, and the problem is growing faster than legacy fraud tools can keep up. Avert Intelligence is building the scam intelligence layer for financial services. We help victims report scams in minutes and turn those reports into real-time intelligence that banks use to protect their customers.

Our scam reporting products have strong traction and are already live across the US, UK, Australia and Canada. We're now taking our B2B intelligence platform to banks, credit unions and card issuers in those markets, and expanding into South Africa, Europe and Asia over the coming months.

We're hiring a founding Senior Engineer to lead this next phase. This isn't a role where you pick up tickets.

You'll set the technical direction, build the team around you, and own how our platform gets into the world's financial institutions.

What you'll do

• Lead bank and enterprise integrations end to end. Work directly with banking partners to scope, architect and ship integrations into their fraud, payments and customer-facing systems.
• Architect our real-time scam intelligence APIs. Build the risk-scoring and data services banks call before a payment goes through, designed for low latency, high reliability and bank-grade security.
• Build and scale our AI-powered scam intelligence. Own the LLM pipelines that turn victim reports, conversations and scam artefacts into structured intelligence and real-time risk signals for banks.
• Ship white-label deployments that let B2B partners launch our products under their own brand, quickly and repeatably.
• Drive our partnership products from idea to production, including Array and other B2B initiatives.
• Take us into new markets across South Africa, Europe and Asia, adapting our platform to local banking rails, regulations and data requirements.
• Build and lead the engineering team. Hire, mentor and set the engineering standards and culture as we grow.
• Shape product and company strategy as part of the founding team, working directly with the CEO and commercial leadership.

What you bring

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, including senior ownership of production systems
• Hands-on experience building AI systems in production. You've designed, built and shipped end-to-end LLM pipelines, covering prompt and agent design, retrieval (RAG), evaluation, monitoring and cost and latency optimisation.
• Security and compliance experience. You've done hands-on SOC 2 work, such as implementing controls, preparing for audits and handling bank vendor security reviews. ISO 27001, PCI DSS or GDPR experience is a plus.
• A B2B banking or fintech background, such as building integrations with banks, developing B2B banking products or shipping white-label platforms
• Experience working directly with enterprise customers or partners, ideally in front of bank technical and security teams
• Strong backend and API design skills, with an eye for security, compliance and reliability
• Startup experience and a strong bias to ownership: you'd rather build the playbook than follow one
• Interest in leading people as well as building systems

Nice to have

• A degree from IIT, NIT, BITS or another Tier 1 institution is a plus, but not a requirement. We care most about what you've built and shipped.
• Experience with agentic AI or voice AI systems
• Experience with fraud, AML, KYC or payments systems
• Experience launching products across multiple regions
