Founding Mechanical Engineer - Electric Hydrofoiling Boats

This role is for one of Weekday's clients. Salary range: Rs 1200000 - Rs 1800000 (ie INR 12-18 LPA). Min Experience: 1 years. Location: Bengaluru. JobType: full-time.

Requirements
We're building next-gen electric hydrofoiling surfboards — combining aerodynamics, hydrodynamics, and electric propulsion to make water feel like flying. This is an early-stage, high-impact role where you'll help shape both the product and the company from the ground up.

Role
As a Founding Aerospace Engineer, you'll be responsible for the design, analysis, and testing of hydrofoils and structural components. You'll work closely on aerodynamics, fluid dynamics, lightweight structures, and stability systems to create high-performance, safe, and efficient boards.

This role is hands-on, experimental, and highly collaborative. You'll be building prototypes, validating designs in real-world conditions, and helping define the technical culture of the team.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and optimize hydrofoil and aerodynamic structures for efficiency and stability
• Perform FEA/CFD simulations to validate structural integrity and fluid dynamics
• Work on lightweight material selection (carbon fiber, composites, etc.)
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and control engineers on system integration
• Build and test prototypes in lab and field conditions
• Contribute to the overall technical roadmap as an early team member

Who You Are

• Degree in Aerospace Engineering / Naval Architecture / Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience)
• Strong background in aerodynamics, hydrodynamics, and structural analysis
• Experience with CAD (SolidWorks, Creo, Fusion 360) and simulation tools (ANSYS, Fluent, COMSOL, etc.)
• Familiar with materials engineering (composites, lightweight structures)
• Comfortable with rapid prototyping and testing in uncertain environments
• Excited about hardware, startups, and building from zero to one
• Bonus: experience in marine craft design or eVTOL / drone projects
