Job summary

OptimIQ.Health is seeking a Founding Engineer to join our early-stage startup and help build the product, technology foundation, and engineering culture from the ground up. Qualifications

• 3+ years as a full-stack engineer in fast-paced product environments
• Proficient in TypeScript and modern JS frameworks
• Hands-on experience with Next.js, React, Node.js and NestJS
• Experience building mobile apps with React Native or Expo
• Strong PostgreSQL knowledge and API design
• Familiarity with Rust or willingness to use it
• Ability to take ownership from idea to production and work in ambiguity
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Responsibilities

Job description

We are looking for a Founding Engineer to join our startup at an early stage and help build the product, technology foundation, and engineering culture from the ground up. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys moving fast, solving real problems, and working closely with founders to turn ideas into scalable products.

As a Founding Engineer, you will take ownership across product development, architecture, infrastructure, and engineering execution. You will play a critical role in shaping both the technical direction and the future of the company.

• The first 2 weeks will serve as a performance evaluation period, where the Founding Engineer will work hands-on and in person with the team. During this time, we will closely assess execution speed, technical capability, communication, ownership, and alignment with the team and company goals.

What you'll do ?

• Build and ship core product features across web, backend and mobile platforms
• Design, develop, and maintain frontend and backend systems
• Work across our stack, including:
• Next.js (typescript) for web applications
• NestJS (typescript) for backend services and APIs
• PostgreSQL for data storage and modeling
• Rust for performance-critical or specialized components where needed
• Go for network engineering
• Collaborate directly with founders and team members on product strategy, user experience, and technical roadmap
• Own architecture decisions and help establish scalable engineering patterns
• Improve application performance, reliability, and security
• Build internal tools, integrations, and automation to support product growth
• Help define engineering best practices, code quality standards, and deployment workflows
• Contribute to hiring and shaping the future engineering team as the company grows

What we’re looking for ?

• 3+ Years experience as a full-stack engineer in fast-paced product environments
• Primary Languages to know Typescript
• Solid hands-on experience with Next.js, React, Node.js, and NestJS
• Experience building mobile apps using React Native / Expo
• Good understanding of PostgreSQL, database design, and API development
• Familiarity with Rust or willingness to work with it for selected use cases
• Ability to take ownership of features from idea to production
• Comfortable working in ambiguity and making pragmatic engineering decisions
• Strong product mindset with attention to user experience and business impact
• Startup mentality: resourceful, adaptable, and execution-focused
• Willingness to work in person for the first 2 weeks as part of onboarding and team collaboration
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Nice to Have

• Experience as an early engineer or founding engineer at a startup
• Experience designing scalable backend systems and cloud infrastructure
• Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD, monitoring, and production operations
• Experience with real-time systems, offline-first mobile apps, or performance optimization
