Sidecar AI in Bengaluru is hiring a founding Backend Engineer to build scalable AI-powered logistics software. You will own core services, systems, and pipelines that process high-volume freight data.

Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in Python and Go; production-grade code in both.
• Exceptional ability to design distributed systems and reason about tradeoffs at scale.
• Solid grasp of relational databases, indexing, and query optimization.
• Strong foundations in algorithms and data structures (DSA).
• Familiarity with cloud fundamentals, containers, and IaC.
• Proven debugging and problem-solving instincts with root-cause focus.

Behind every shipment is a freight forwarding company, a logistics middleman coordinating ships, customs, warehouses, and trucks across continents. These companies still run on emails, spreadsheets, PDFs, and terminal software from 1998. Their teams manually extract information from documents and respond to hundreds of emails and phone calls daily to execute business-specific workflows.

Sidecar is a 24×7 Virtual AI Teammate for these Logistics Service Providers, calling, emailing, logging into systems, and doing everything else to execute a complex task.

We are hiring a Founding Backend Engineer.

Here’s what you’ll work on

• Agent runtime & infra: run, retry, and monitor millions of autonomous workflows at scale
• Document, email & data pipelines: parse and reason over high-volume, messy logistics data
• Stateful LLM systems: memory, tool-use, and human-in-the-loop failure recovery
• Real-time Voice AI: low-latency, fault-tolerant calling infrastructure

Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in Python and Golang: you write clean, production-grade code in both
• Exceptional system design skills: you can whiteboard distributed architectures and reason about tradeoffs at scale
• Understanding of database design: relational modeling, indexing strategies, query optimization
• Solid foundation in DSA: you optimize for performance, not just correctness
• Familiarity with cloud fundamentals: Cloud services, containerization, infrastructure-as-code
• Strong debugging and problem-solving instincts: you dig until you find the root cause
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience (preferred)

Preferred Skills

• Experience building event-driven or message-queue-based systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS)
• Background in building integrations with third-party APIs at scale
• Familiarity with observability tools and practices (logging, tracing, metrics)
• Prior experience in fast-paced startup environments

Experience

• 2+ years of professional backend engineering experience
• Track record of owning and shipping production systems end-to-end
• Experience working on systems that handle real-world complexity (not just CRUD)
