Job summary

Weekday AI (YC W21) is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to build and deploy AI-powered solutions for enterprise customers. You will translate business challenges into practical AI solutions, develop working prototypes, and integrate enterprise data sources to deliver measurable business value.

This role blends software engineering, applied AI, and customer collaboration, spanning end-to-end solution delivery, production-ready APIs, and addressing latency, data privacy, and scalability

Qualifications

• 1+ years in software engineering or applied AI.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with enterprise customers to understand business challenges and translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Design, develop, and deploy AI-powered applications using ML, LLMs, RAG, and multi-agent systems.
• Build RAG pipelines for ingestion, embedding, retrieval, reranking, and context-grounded responses.
• Integrate enterprise knowledge sources, APIs, databases, and internal systems into AI apps.
• Develop multi-agent workflows for task orchestration and decision support.
• Experiment with LLMs, prompts, and retrieval strategies to improve accuracy.
• Develop prototypes and production-ready services and APIs for AI capabilities.
• Implement testing, observability, and performance evaluation frameworks.
• Address challenges around hallucinations, latency, and data privacy.

We are looking for a technically strong and solution-orientedForward Deployed Engineer (FDE)to build and deploy AI-powered solutions for enterprise customers. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience or a strong foundation inMachine Learning, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), multi-agent systems, and enterprise AI applications.

This role combines software engineering, applied AI, customer collaboration, and end-to-end solution delivery. You will translate complex business challenges into practical AI solutions, develop working prototypes, integrate enterprise data sources, and help deploy reliable applications that deliver measurable business value.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with enterprise customers to understand business challenges, identify AI opportunities, and translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Design, develop, and deploy AI-powered applications usingMachine Learning, LLMs, RAG, and multi-agent systems.
• Build RAG pipelines involving document ingestion, chunking, embedding generation, retrieval, reranking, and context-grounded response generation.
• Integrate enterprise knowledge sources, APIs, databases, and internal systems into AI applications.
• Develop multi-agent workflows for task orchestration, information retrieval, decision support, and business process automation.
• Experiment with LLMs, prompt engineering, model evaluation, and retrieval strategies to improve accuracy and reliability.
• Build prototypes and proof-of-concepts, validate them with stakeholders, and convert successful solutions into production-ready applications.
• Develop backend services and APIs to integrate AI capabilities with existing enterprise platforms.
• Implement testing, observability, performance optimisation, and evaluation frameworks for AI systems.
• Address challenges involving hallucinations, retrieval quality, latency, scalability, data privacy, and access control.
• Work closely with Product, Engineering, Data, and customer teams to ensure successful implementation and adoption.
• Document technical designs, deployment processes, and solution architecture while incorporating feedback to improve outcomes.

What Makes You a Great Fit

• 1+ years of experiencein software engineering, Machine Learning, applied AI, or a related technical role.
• Strong programming skills inPythonand familiarity with software development fundamentals.
• Understanding of Machine Learning concepts, LLMs, prompt engineering, and AI application development.
• Hands-on experience or practical project exposure toRAG pipelines, embeddings, vector databases, and semantic search.
• Familiarity with multi-agent frameworks and orchestration tools such as LangGraph, LangChain, or similar technologies.
• Experience integrating APIs, databases, and enterprise data sources into software applications.
• Understanding of REST APIs, backend development, Git, testing, and deployment workflows.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms, containers, and production monitoring is an advantage.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to learn new technologies quickly.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with customers and cross-functional teams.
