Role Overview
The Network Security Specialist Advisor will engage in daily maintenance and operations of firewall solutions such as Palo Alto, FortiGate, and Prisma. The role involves designing, confirming, and troubleshooting traffic flows, security implementations, and configurations across multiple customers’ network security infrastructures. The specialist will maintain accurate documentation, resolve issues with minimal client input, and work independently or remotely when necessary.
Role Responsibilities
- Handle Requests, Changes, Incidents, and Problem records to support customers’ network security environments.
- Implement and support network security solutions in customer environments.
- Provide expertise on Palo Alto URL filtering, vulnerability protection, AV, anti‑spyware profiles, App‑id, and application filters.
- Troubleshoot issues using packet captures and debugging on Palo Alto and Fortinet firewalls.
- Escalate technical issues to Level 2 support engineers and write custom queries on Palo Alto to retrieve reporting data.
- Provide on‑call support for high‑severity incidents in a 24x7 environment and ensure service level agreements are met.
- Perform system maintenance, checks, and keep current documentation.
- Provide resolution plans for device issues and propose service, process, and technical improvements to management.
- Assist in daily steady‑state operations, request and change management, weekly on‑call rotations, and health‑status checks for all support network security platforms.
- Conduct rule‑set reviews to improve overall security footprints for customers and manage problems until closure.
Requirements
- 12+ years of experience in network security administration.
- Hands‑on experience with Palo Alto, Prisma, Fortinet, and other firewall technologies.
- Expertise in troubleshooting with packet captures, debugging, and custom query creation on Palo Alto.
- Strong knowledge of EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, and switching technologies.
- Experience with authentication protocols such as LDAP, IWA, IWA‑direct, SSO, and Active Directory.
- Proficiency in ITIL best practices and at least two mid‑level security certifications from Cisco, Palo Alto, Fortinet, or equivalent.
- Excellent customer‑facing communication, time‑management, and ethical standards.
- Ability to make rapid, optimal decisions with minimal client input.
