Job summary

Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) is seeking a Fire & Safety Officer for a site in Kolkata, responsible for overseeing fire safety and coordinating suppression activities. The role requires a Diploma/Degree in Fire Engineering or Fire Safety with 3–5 years of relevant experience.

You will prepare Fire Prevention plans and ensure compliance with safety procedures. Reporting to the Fire Safety Manager or Estate Manager, the position is on-site with a 48-hour weekly schedule.

Qualifications

• Diploma/Degree in Fire Engineering or Fire Safety.
• Good knowledge of fire suppression and firefighting techniques.
• Good knowledge of fire records systems and reporting procedures.
• Knowledge of emergency medical services principles.

Position:

Fire & Safety Officer Business: Property and Asset Management, Kolkata

What this job involves

You will oversee and ensure fire safety at your site. You will use the assigned apparatus and follow the command structure instructions for fire suppression or a related emergency service.

Your duties will involve:

• Assumes a designated position on an assigned apparatus and follows command structure instructions for fire suppression or a related emergency service.
• Performs equipment set-up upon arrival at a fire scene.
• Dispatches emergency personnel.
• Prepares a Fire Prevention plan.
• Completes appropriate rescue, firefighting and salvage operations at a fire scene.
• Uses established procedures to determine if individuals are trapped within a burning facility and takes appropriate actions to secure their rescue.
• Performs salvage duties, including removing all burnt items, sweeping and mopping the floor, removing excess water and debris and protecting any property, that has not been damaged.
• Overhauls affected structure to prevent rekindling.
• Takes inventory of all equipment after suppression has been achieved, recording all equipment, which must be left at the site.
• Attends and provides information for pre-fire planning studies and maintains a current knowledge of pre-fire plans.
• Provides needed information and demonstrations concerning how to perform certain work tasks to new employees in the same or similar class of positions.
• Attends meetings, conferences, workshops and training sessions and reviews publications and audio-visual materials to become and remain current on the principles, practices and new developments.
• Responds to customers’ questions and comments in a courteous and timely manner.
• Communicates and coordinates regularly with appropriate others to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of interdepartmental operations and activities;
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Client:

You will be working in a property that includes both Commercial and Retail properties, located at Kolkata.

Site dynamics:

Work Schedule: Site team: Duty in Shifts Reporting: You will be reporting to the Fire Safety Manager/ Estate Manager as the case may be.

Being Analytical and Meticulous You will ensure that all fire and life safety systems installed in the premises are working in an effective and efficient manner; and provide criteria on determining the number or type of fire equipment’s needed in a given area.

Qualifications

• You will have a Diploma/Degree in Fire Engineering OR Fire Safety with work experience of 3-5 years.
• If you have a good knowledge of current fire suppression and firefighting techniques along with knowledge of the principles and practices involved in emergency medical services, you will be our preferred candidate.
• Diploma/Degree in Fire Services Engineering.
