Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a Fire Alarm Design Engineer to design Fire Alarm Systems per customer standards and building codes, including NFPA 72, IBC/NBC. The role requires BE in relevant engineering, 4–10 years' experience, and strong communication.

You will review drawings, perform calculations, and deliver compliant layouts. Join a global leader in smart, sustainable buildings and contribute to safe, reliable systems across projects.

Qualifications

• BE in Instrumentation / Electrical / Electronics or Electronics & Communication.
• 4-10 years of relevant experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Strong domain knowledge of Fire Alarm System.
• Ability to carry out hardware detail design, engineering and battery/voltage drop calculations.
• Knowledge of NFPA 72, IBC & relevant codes & standards.
• ACAD hands-on experience.
• Simplex product knowledge is an advantage.
• Understanding tender documents & specifications.
• Designing Fire Alarm System IBC, NBC, NFPA 72.
• Must be a quick learner.

• Review MEP drawings, Tender Specs etc. and identify Fire Alarm Requirements.
• Prepare Fire alarm Layout & engineering BOM

The primary responsibility for this role is to design the Fire Alarm System as per customer/account specific standards & building codes and NFPA 72 standards. Follow processes, maintain required quality standards and on time deliveries to ensure customer satisfaction.

How you will do it

• Independent execution of project throughout the lifecycle
• Design the Fire Alarm System per local codes & standards

• Complete input study with the help of input checklist and raise the RFIs.
• Prepare Fire alarm Layout & engineering BOM
• Ensure quality assurance and defect free Fire Alarms Drawings delivery.
• Adherence with all processes and guidelines to execute project within timeline

What we look for

Required

• BE (Instrumentation / Electrical/ Electronics / Electronics & Communication)
• 4-10 Years’ experience in relevant field
• Proficient in written and verbal communication.
• Should have strong domain knowledge of Fire Alarm System
• Should be able to independently carry out Hardware Detail Design, Engineering and Application Development, Battery Calculations, Voltage drops calculations etc.
• Knowledge on NFPA 72, IBC & Relevant codes & standards.
• ACAD hands on experience
• Simplex product knowledge will be an advantage
• Understanding the tender documents & specifications.
• Designing of Fire Alarm System IBC, NBC, NFPA 72 etc.
• Must be a quick learner

Preferred

• NICET Level I & II Certified
• Simplex Product Certified
• Products: Simplex, Notifier, Siemens, EST etc.
