Job summary

Johnson Controls, Inc. is seeking an experienced Fire Alarm System Design Engineer in Bengaluru to design, lay out, and engineer fire alarm solutions per local codes and NFPA 72. You will review tender specs, create layout drawings and BOMs, and ensure quality and timely delivery.

You will independently manage the design lifecycle, perform battery and voltage drop calculations, and apply NFPA 72, IBC, and related standards. A BE in a relevant field and ACAD/Simplex familiarity are preferred.

Qualifications

• BE in Instrumentation or Electrical, Electronics, or Electronics & Communication.
• Proficient in written and verbal communication.
• Strong domain knowledge of Fire Alarm System.
• Ability to independently execute hardware detail design and engineering tasks.
• Experience with battery calculations and voltage drop calculations.
• Familiarity with NFPA 72, IBC and related codes.

Responsibilities

• Design the Fire Alarm System per local codes and standards (IBC, NFPA 72).
• Review MEP drawings and tender specs to identify fire alarm requirements.
• Prepare Fire Alarm Layouts and engineering BOM; ensure QA and defect-free drawings.
• Conduct input studies using checklists and raise RFIs as needed.
• Adhere to processes to deliver projects on time.

The primary responsibility for this role is to design the Fire Alarm System as per customer/account specific standards & building codes and NFPA 72 standards. Follow processes, maintain required quality standards and on time deliveries to ensure customer satisfaction.

How you will do it:

• Independent execution of project throughout the lifecycle
• Design the Fire Alarm System per local codes & standards
• Review MEP drawings, Tender Specs etc. and identify Fire Alarm Requirements.
• Complete input study with the help of input checklist and raise the RFIs.
• Prepare Fire alarm Layout & engineering BOM
• Ensure quality assurance and defect free Fire Alarms Drawings delivery.
• Adherence with all processes and guidelines to execute project within timeline

What we look for:

Required

• BE (Instrumentation / Electrical/ Electronics / Electronics & Communication)
• 4-10 Years’ experience in relevant field
• Proficient in written and verbal communication.
• Should have strong domain knowledge of Fire Alarm System
• Should be able to independently carry out Hardware Detail Design, Engineering and Application Development, Battery Calculations, Voltage drops calculations etc.
• Knowledge on NFPA 72, IBC & Relevant codes & standards.
• ACAD hands on experience
• Simplex product knowledge will be an advantage
• Understanding the tender documents & specifications.Designing of Fire Alarm System IBC, NBC, NFPA 72 etc.
• Must be a quick learner

Preferred:

• NICET Level I & II Certified
• Simplex Product Certified
• Products: Simplex, Notifier, Siemens, EST etc.
