Job summary

Johnson Controls, Inc. is seeking a Fire Alarm System Design engineer in Mumbai, India. You will independently manage the project lifecycle, designing Fire Alarm layouts to meet NFPA 72 and local codes, while reviewing drawings and tender specifications.

The role requires 4-8 years of relevant experience, strong communication skills, and AutoCAD proficiency. Join a collaborative team focused on safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• BE in instrumentation or electrical or electronics or similar field.
• 4-8 years of relevant experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong Fire Alarm System domain knowledge.
• Ability to independently carry out hardware detail design and engineering tasks.
• Knowledge of NFPA 72, IBC and relevant codes & standards.
• ACAD hands-on experience.
• Understanding tender documents and specifications.
• Designing Fire Alarm System per IBC, NBC and NFPA 72.

Responsibilities

• Independent execution of project lifecycle.
• Design the Fire Alarm System per local codes & standards.
• Review MEP drawings, tender specs, and identify Fire Alarm requirements.
• Prepare input study with checklists and raise RFIs.
• Prepare Fire alarm layout and engineering BOM.
• Ensure QA and defect-free drawings delivery.
• Adhere to processes and guidelines to meet timelines.

The primary responsibility for this role is to design the Fire Alarm System as per customer/account specific standards & building codes and NFPA 72 standards. Follow processes, maintain required quality standards and on time deliveries to ensure customer satisfaction.

How you will do it:

• Independent execution of project throughout the lifecycle


• Design the Fire Alarm System per local codes & standards


• Review MEP drawings, Tender Specs etc. and identify Fire Alarm Requirements.


• Complete input study with the help of input checklist and raise the RFIs.


• Prepare Fire alarm Layout & engineering BOM


• Ensure quality assurance and defect free Fire Alarms Drawings delivery.


• Adherence with all processes and guidelines to execute project within timeline

What we look for:

Required

• BE (Instrumentation / Electrical/ Electronics / Electronics & Communication)


• 4-8 Years’ experience in relevant field


• Proficient in written and verbal communication.


• Should have strong domain knowledge of Fire Alarm System


• Should be able to independently carry out Hardware Detail Design, Engineering and Application Development, Battery Calculations, Voltage drops calculations etc.


• Knowledge on NFPA 72, IBC & Relevant codes & standards.


• ACAD hands on experience


• Simplex product knowledge will be an advantage


• Understanding the tender documents & specifications.


• Designing of Fire Alarm System IBC, NBC, NFPA 72 etc.


• Must be a quick learner

Preferred:

• NICET Level I & II Certified


• Simplex Product Certified


• Products: Simplex, Notifier, Siemens, EST etc.
