Job summary

Moody's Analytics is seeking a Financial Data Analyst to validate and maintain financial data for BankFocus and InsuranceFocus products in a fast-paced environment. You will support data quality, improve coverage, and assist clients with data-driven insights while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of relevant experience in banking, insurance, financial services, accounting, financial analysis, or financial data management.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills with attention to detail and data accuracy.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for explaining complex financial concepts.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and learn quickly.
• Experience analyzing bank or insurance financial statements and knowledge of banking regulations (preferred).
• Working knowledge of SQL, data quality tools, and structured data feeds (preferred).
• Interest in AI concepts and responsible AI practices, with eagerness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes, validates, and maintains financial data for Moody's Analytics BankFocus and InsuranceFocus products and supports stakeholders.
• Review and maintain bank and insurance financial data using sound financial and accounting principles.
• Investigate data discrepancies, anomalies, and client-reported issues promptly and thoroughly.
• Serve as primary contact for inquiries related to financial content, data coverage, methodologies, and product functionality.
• Explain financial spreading methodologies, data collection processes, and product features to clients and internal teams.
• Support structured feed ingestion, validation, and monitoring; perform data quality controls and remediation.
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Modeling, Research, and Data Operations to improve data quality and client experience.
• Identify opportunities for process optimization, automation, and workflow enhancements; contribute to new data sources.
• Use data and AI-enabled tools to improve productivity and promote continuous learning and operational excellence.

• 1-3 years of relevant experience in banking, insurance, financial services, accounting, financial analysis, or financial data management
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills, with excellent attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences

• Support structured feed ingestion, validation, and monitoring for assigned coverage areas, executing data quality controls and remediation activities
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Modeling, Research, and Data Operations teams to improve data quality, coverage, and the overall client experience
• Identify opportunities for process optimization, automation, and operational efficiency, and contribute to new data sources and workflow enhancements
• Use data and technology tools, including artificial intelligence-enabled solutions, to improve productivity, drive innovation, and promote continuous learning and operational excellence

About the Team

Our Data Estate Credit & Financials team is responsible for supporting the quality, coverage, and usability of bank and insurance financial data across Moody's Analytics. We partner closely with Product, Engineering, Modeling, Research, and Data Operations to resolve data issues, address client needs, improve processes, and continuously introduce new data sources and workflow enhancements.
