Responsibilities

  • Work with FinCrime Execution Teams to manage financial crime alerts and risks.
  • Conduct independent reviews to assess suspicions and required actions.
  • Escalate to management and obtain sign-off on recommendations.
  • Perform customer-level risk assessments when trigger events occur.
  • Assess triggers like watch-list matches, SARs, COs, PEPs, and adverse media.
  • Support sanctions reviews and investigations as needed.
  • Collaborate with business teams and Financial Crime colleagues.
  • Provide guidance on financial crime red flags and required actions.
  • Maintain risk, process, and control documentation for attestations.

Job Description Purpose of the role To provide data-led expert oversight and check and challenge on business and compliance matters to evidence that the organisation is operating in a compliance with Barclays legal, regulatory and ethical responsibilities. Accountabilities Identification and assessment of compliance risks through thorough reviews of business activities, changes, processes, testing and systems to. Identification and investigation of potential market abuse, including but not limited to, Insider Dealing, Unlawful Disclosure, Market Manipulation or Anti-Competitive Conduct. Conduct investigation of compliance risk events or breaches. Oversight and check and challenge of corrective actions and preventative measures to avoid future occurrences. Implementation of compliance policies and procedures in line with regulatory requirements and ensuring that the bank’s internal policies are aligned with international standards, including jurisdictional requirements. Collaboration with 1LOD, other relevant Compliance teams and legal, and relevant risk management functions to facilitate a comprehensive approach to compliance and risk management. Identification, investigation and oversight of potential money laundering, terrorist financing or other financial crime.

To be successful as a Financial Crime – Alert Management Analyst you should have experience with:

Key Accountabilities
  • The role holder will work closely with the FinCrime Execution Teams execute Financial Crime Risks including; Managing financial crime alerts, where red flags have been identified either via automated (e.g. TM) or manual sources.
  • Conducting independent reviews to ascertain if suspicion is formed and what course of action might be required.
  • Escalating to management where applicable and obtaining sign off on recommendations.
  • Conducting customer level risks assessments where trigger events occur, including making recommendations to senior business management on whether to maintain or terminate relationships.
  • Trigger events include, but are not limited to, Watch‑List Matches, Disclosed Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs), Court Orders (CO’s), exposure to Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs) and Adverse Media hits.
  • Support Sanctions Reviews and Investigations, including the response to True Match alerts and supporting the management of Customer Exceptions and Existing Customer Reviews.
  • Work closely with and partner the Business through active engagement with business teams and Financial Crime Teams.
  • Be a subjectmatterexpertonFinancialCrime andPoliciesandStandardsandbeableto provideclear and understandable guidance articulating financial crime red flagsrequiring escalation or furtheraction.
  • Manage and maintain relevant risk, process, and control documentation, including collation of information for attestations and, where required, regulatory submissions.
  • Supporting the businesses oversightof the Financial Crime control environment where appropriate, e.g. through the monthlyKRI reporting cycles.
Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of UK AML Regulations & FinancialCrime regulatory, compliance, and risk management frameworks.
  • Experience in a financial institutioninthe1st or 2nd Line of Defence supporting Financial Crime functions.
  • Stakeholder management at Senior Executive Committee level with ability to create and maintain highly engagingrelationships, challenging the status quo, and driving strategic, innovative, and competitive solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Outstanding ability to effectively prioritisechanging business needs and drive results with a diverse and inclusive leadership style, which promotes advocacy.
Desirable skills/Preferred Qualifications
  • Recognized Financial Crime/ Anti‑MoneyLaundering qualification or equivalent - e.g., ACAMS, ICA, etc.
  • Good working knowledge of UK Corporate and Payments businesses, clients, operations, and the sectors in which we operate, including high risk industries.
  • Good working knowledge of general IT applications.
